The BSU's of the MAC/Group of 5 will eventually fall off the map because it will be almost impossible to remain competitive financially. Our NIL efforts have been meager. Honestly it will not surprise me if we drop to FCS/D2 for football at some point. I think we could work up a decent NIL package for basketball and remain competitive there, but football, no way. Problem is, will the MAC being making concessions for members who cannot come up with similar NIL deals as other members and therefore can't truly compete? Such as let them be lower division or NO football while retaining D1 basketball status? I just don't know how this is all going to work out for BSU long term. But, on the other hand I'm not sure how well paid mercenaries will do on the football field if it's every man for himself.

Read on N Illinois blog they are afraid half MAC schools will be forced out of D1 within 5 yrs including them. Toledo blog says while they look good in MAC on money raised they don't look good with other G5 schools. So what amazing plans does anyone have to bring in money?

It's easy. Just wait until our alums do so well we blow all those P5 schools out of the water. Assuming of course the University decides FBS FB is the top priority for use of massive increase in giving. Or, the alums designate their funds for the glory of MAC FB. Easy. The EMU funding partnership is aimed at silly things like BB, golf, the Engineering School, scholarships for students and faculty research. Our alums won't do that, surely? www.gameabove.com/our-story

That 50 mil your seeing tgere is for those 8 buildings and the other individual things you mentioned. The collective is above and beyond that with gameabove leading the way funding the collective while other alum and ypsi businesses contribute. They paid Bates 1 million this year

So far that million has them a 1-6 record and a Bates that plays about 50% He was really engaged for the Michigan game but other than that he just goes through the motions

I spent a lot of time in Ypsilanti. Most people would pony up $1M to get out of there

Hard to believe a big 10 school couldn’t pay him. Or maybe p5 schools weren’t sure he’d be worth it. So far his presence hasn’t helped the emus.

They paid Bates 1 million this year George Gervin sits on the board for the all purpose funding. That might skew athletic fund raising to BB. I doubt the NIL numbers. 50 mil commitment already is awfully hard to get at this level, even with naming rights. NIL is anonymous.
