Southern Indiana moved to D-I in sports and joined the Ohio Valley Conference. They played the 9-1 Indiana State Sycamores and beat them in OT today.
They are 5-5 and beat Bowling Green a few weeks ago.

Looks like an interesting story. A little strange.
Ranked something like 290. Both games they were 10 pt underdogs.
5-10 soph G from Newburg dropped 28 points on ISU who was a 10 point favorite but on the road.
The kid hit 8 of 9 3s, season % was less than 30%...
Same player 1 for 6 3s vs BG, but a reserve came in giving them 23 pts, 4-9 3s, while BG shot 30+% from the field at home total.
USI guards scored 44+ total coming off the bench.

USI had a guy go nuts from 3 and shot 45% as a team from 3.

Duquesne has had consecutive unimpressive losses. Marshall and New Mexico State. Both double digit losses.
We must have exposed their weaknesses…

They are 5-5 and beat Bowling Green a few weeks ago. a bunch of teams have jumped up to D1 over the past couple of years Since my daughter last played in the Great Lakes Valley conference (D-II), there have been 4 conference schools go to D-I: - Northern Kentucky - University of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville - Bellarmine -University of Southern Indiana It used to be a heckuva D-II conference. |

USI did get an edge in that ISU was missing one starter in Neese currently averaging 9.6 ppg in his 6th yr.

ISU now 9-3, ranked 111 in Kenpom (originally 135) Duquesne also 9-3, ranked 125 in Kenpom (originally 133) Ball State now 7-4, ranked 166 in Kenpom (originally 230). Just for reference, Whitford's team's Kenpom rating in his last year was 267, but in the four years prior to that was no lower than 173. |

We dodged a bullet last night, will have some conference games where a "lesser" team will be a load for us if we are not ready.

I credit Ga.Southern defense for throwing us off ou game the first half. We panicked a little and began putting up 3s. reminding me of last year. Coleman was lost for a half but finally got most of his game back.
