I credit Ga.Southern defense for throwing us off ou game the first half. We panicked a little and began putting up 3s. reminding me of last year. Coleman was lost for a half but finally got most of his game back. Thankfully we now have a coach who doesn’t just stare off into the abyss as we self destruct.

Assuming the players should find their way based on preparation is a great goal. But when they obviously are not going to, and a kick in the ass is required, Lewis has added that.

Nor do we have to hear stupid comments after disappointing losses such as “but we played the right way”!
Notice how Lewis doesn’t use such bullshit comments. Even after a nice win, he’s making comments about how we need to get better at something. Refreshing and I still can’t believe we had to endure that many years with Whitford’s ineptness.

Sadly, despite your comments, we aren't any better than we were last year at this time. Jimmy's and Joe's over X's and O's.

Jimmy's and Joe's over X's and O's. Last year we were 6-7 at this juncture. We're better. You might say the difference is not all that great in that any "power rating" might be only a few points. In the MAC which may be weaker in the bottom half, we are clearly in the second tier behind Kent and Toledo, and last year were perhaps fighting to be only in the middle of the pack. That's small maybe, but significant.
The talent level of the two teams compare. It's fair to say the coaching job is better.
I do not agree with the abysmally low evaluation of Whitford and his staff that dominates here, but very much like the way Lewis is coaching and think it deserves to be considered better.

I definitely agree with that. Well said.

The most important difference in the two coaches is not so much where their teams stood or stand at this particular point in the season. Nor is it even the large difference in their respective styles...coaches win (or lose) with all different styles.
The critical difference is that with Whitford, there was a VERY CLEAR CEILING to the program. It took BSU way, way too long to face up to this. So many excuses. Whitford's ceiling was around 3rd or 4th best team in the MAC and MAYBE one tourney win. The fanbase and potential fanbase sensed this quite clearly and thus there was zero real excitement around the program. Potential recruits were also very aware.
With Lewis we really don't know what the ceiling is. It could quite possibly be lower than Whitford's, but there is no way to know that at this date. So there is hope. And hope is important.

I'm interested to see what the attendance will look like for Akron on Friday. We've had a very unfavorable attendance situation this year with bad opponents and worse timing, but it's still been about like all prior years.
Earlham - Non-D1 opponent. IU South Bend - Non-D1 opponent weekend before Thanksgiving. Evansville - Highest turnout so far with 3,547. Georgia Southern - Wednesday night week of Christmas Chicago State - Wednesday night week between Christmas and New Years - still came in second with 3,540.
If we somehow beat Toledo I would hope that people start showing up and Worthen becomes a tough place to play.

Interesting to see how Cochran plays tonight. Thought this board would be talking about that today. Avg. 9 a game while shooting at 47% clip.

I'm rooting for him, even though he left. Not sure why he did though, everyone else came back after Lewis was hired... Did he have a fallout with Lewis?

I am glad he left. Thought he was a selfish player.

I am glad he left. Thought he was a selfish player. Yep, he dominated the ball and took horrible shots. I don't think he meshed well at all. Seemed like a loner on the floor.

That ball dominance desire probably why he left. Lewis established early he wanted ball movement with the pass, and sharing the ball. Could be a little why Brown left too.
