Of course you don't agree with Whitford's evaluation by the majority of the fanbase because if you were in charge he'd still be our coach and you'd be making excuses as to why we should retain him and we couldn't afford to hire anyone better. Thankfully Goetz didn't share your viewpoint and trusted her eyesight, insight and experience. I wonder why she left. Well, let's throw out a few ideas: 1.) She cleaned up, restructured and hired new talent on her team. 2.) Engaged all of her stakeholder groups (alums, donors, admins, fans, coaches, players, staff) at a very close level 3.) Raised $$ and built a new indoor FB facility. 4.) Fired, hired, replaced a significant number of coaches who were all highly successful. 5.) FB won the MAC and the first ever bowl game in school history. 6.) Academic success extremely high. 7.) Chair-elect for NCAA Women's basketball committee. Bottom line, her stock was super high and she achieved everything you could ask for and even canned our highly mediocre men's bball coach and didn't leave that for her successor to deal with. Turns out it was a very wise decision. Huh...how about that? Lastly, she was offered a #2 position at a Big Ten school who is likely to part ways with their beleaguered AD within the next 24 months meaning she will ascend to that position at a salary that will be 10X higher than she made here.

Our defense is pretty solid. Shumate last night for most of the game seemed lost and really uncomfortable. But OMG he is a really good player.

This is complete bullshit. We are far better with essentially the same personnel sans Coleman. We have the same damn numbers as last year, except in record because we played a weaker schedule. This isn't even a close call. We are so much better on defense, basketball IQ, fundamentals and toughness. As noted by Cardfan, if we hit a few more FT's by our center and if Duquesne doesn't throw in a prayer we are 11-2. Plus, the coaching is so much more effective from the bench. I take it you haven't seen us play yet in person?

Whitford is that you? Or are you like Bumbalough’s dad or something? It’s clear to anyone watching we are significantly better this year.

That was ugly and brutal UJim. How are people supposed to maintain their Whiford fantasies in the presence of those facts? You are a cruel man.
By the way, the home loss to Michigan Tech might have been Whitford's signature loss. It should be commemorated with a decal in every urinal in the men's rooms at the arena.

The L to Michigan Tech is all you need to know about Whitford's tenure. In fact, I think that may have been the final straw.
We should never lose to a D2 team. Ever.

This was from the post-game coverage of the Michigan Tech loss. I think this quote tells more about Whitford's tenure than the actual loss itself.

Whitford is that you? Or are you like Bumbalough’s dad or something? It’s clear to anyone watching we are significantly better this year. I might be related to someone... I’m sure they are all good people. I defended whit for longer than most. Last season was the breaking point. At the end of the dayX Whitford didn’t win nearly enough and got several more years to figure it out then he probably should have. Ignoring the player development and systems, just the situational coaching decisions are so much better now. Subbing based on the game and not some predetermined schedule, time-outs taken at good times, playing time distribution, all obvious. What I wonder is how expectations are being communicated. It SEEMS Lewis is less accepting of failure, and more willing to say “gotta do better” - but I don’t know what Whitford was doing behind the scenes
