How about asking if we are recruiting a 4/5 and 1. Also, are we more interested in the portal or going after tweeners the big boys are holding off due to the transfer portal. To expand on Reevo's PG question. If we don't recruit a 1 for next season, will Micah Bell be ready to takeover for Jacobs, or will Coleman need to slide over and become the primary PG with Bell backing him up? Or would Bubalough need to be the back-up PG or even the primary PG, assuming he is still here next season?

I would not assume Coleman is back.
Will be hard to replace any of our guards if we lose them. They're very good.

I am still a subscriber to the Star Press only because my wife has talked down the subscription to $9. They have a total of 3 part time reporters and almost report verbatim the Indy Star. So sick of IU basketball and Colt coverage. I would not be surprised if it is gone by the end of the year. Sad!

A local media source with insufficient local coverage, and they think they are going to maintain subscribers and advertisers?
It needs to just die and let someone else who gives a damn give it a try.

The USA TODAY tie in is now how local papers are hanging in. Sad it is that not many do better than the S/P.

One big surprise to me was that Windham was on the court at the end of the game when the defense was so good. Hopefully Lewis has finally gotten through to him. Lewis made me laugh out loud fairly late in the second half. One of the refs was in front of him and Lewis wanted to get his attention. He turns to the bench and says "what's this asshole's name so I can yell at him?" So nice to have a coach with personality to go with coaching ability.

I don't think they think that at all. I think they know they're riding a dying horse, and they're going to ride it until it drops. And I don't think anybody is going to do it better. Maybe they could but I don't think they will. IMO what's truly needed to revive community newspapers is a return to the local ownership and a truly new business plan, but most of these "media sources" that pop up online are crap. The website is crap. The content is crap. There's typically not a shred of "journalism" or true quality in writing/reporting or photography/video to be found. The old business model and an inability to transition to a new one are to blame, but so are the readers. Most newspapers like the Star Press will be dead in a couple of years, and too few people care about the damage that's going to do (or has already done) to our communities.

What's going on at TSP isn't really different than other mid-sized papers across the country. The Bloomington paper is a shell of its former self since Gannett took it over. Unfortunately, Muncie's fickle readership deserves some of the blame. From the subscribers who cancelled when the newspaper coverage of their cousin's trial was unfavorable, to the business community who complained it didn't have enough "control" over a story, to the advertisers who quit buying after a negative "review." The Muncie market seems to have been pushing for a number of years that its media contain mostly positive, puff-piece journalism. The lamentable BSU coverage has been sliding for years, but even TSP could point to online story metrics that revealed the BSU articles weren't getting clicks.

Just this afternoon canceled my digital edition. They had offered me some ridiculous "$1 for 6 months" kind of deal, and I did that back in the summer, but it's really not worth it to extend at $10/month (though they did offer me $3/month during the call to entice me to stay). Of course, in her asking why I was canceling, I offered that I only subscribed to follow BSU athletics... basketball, football, volleyball, and maybe some local HS coverage. Since they aren't doing that coverage, there is really no reason to extend. Her reply was that my subscription gave me access to other local papers from across the country, to which I answered that I was interested in BSU coverage and I was pretty certain that those other local papers didn't cover BSU. She gave up at that point and said she entered the cancellation. I'm all for supporting local journalism, but I shall support the local journalism where I live so that it's relevant to me...
