Gus Martin is doing a really good job with the BSU beat now, and Lewis is transparent and refreshing. And he's realistic and positive. |

It was total garbage time when he played. I'm afraid if he played "real" minutes, he would be exposed. If he was going to play anything but garbage minutes, we would have seen it by now. Lewis tried Cleary and Owens-White with a few first half minutes. Neither one really stuck in the rotation. I had hoped maybe Lewis could have salvaged some value out of the scholarship taken-up by Hendriks. In my opinion, the only way that happens now is if Hendriks moves on (good God he's got 2 more years of eligibility after this year) and Lewis can use the scholarship on someone else. Accurate assessment from what I've seen and figured he was against Kent's subs. His stat line was good and was hopeful he had progressed.
I've got way too much faith in this staff, to think that if Hendricks was capable of playing more, he would be.

I've got way too much faith in this staff, to think that if Hendricks was capable of playing more, he would be.
He's just so unathletic. If you're going to be unathletic, you have to be very skilled, and he just isn't. We fell in love with international players like Ben and Teemu. |

He's just so unathletic. If you're going to be unathletic, you have to be very skilled, and he just isn't. We fell in love with international players like Ben and Teemu. Unfortunately it was poor evaluation and projection of players. |

I'm guessing some of the "get your head out of your ass" part with players is there in practice this week, also good to see that in my mind. I imagine some video review that will not be kind and gentle. |

No idea what Lewis can do with him, if anything. |

We are further along than most of us expected
I'd love to see Windham get back on track and play well off the bench, but he isn't...
If we get a little from him, a little from Bumb, continue to see Jihad improve, get a big game from Pearson here and there, there is still some upside this year. And certainly some upside in solving what to do about Sparks getting surrounded which is probably all of the above.
Longer term, who knows.

Yeh, that's like a vicious circle. Those shooters need Sparks to be getting opponents attention, which he is, which frees up the shooters and in turn, Sparks needs the shooters to shoot well, which takes some of the double and triple team off of him.
Sparks HAS to get more shots than what he is getting to be very effective for us.
I've said this before, as have others, but I love it when he and Jihad are on the court at the same time. I think that, in itself, takes some of the attention off of Sparks. Too, I'd sure like to see Sparks get some situations where he gets the ball on the move and not just in a post up scenario. A pass or design where he gets it and takes maybe one dribble and attacks the basket not havimg to make multiple moves allowing more time for more defenders to get to him. Have seen that a couple of times, but not often.
I do agree with someone that posted earlier. We ain't got a lot of hope to be able to play like three games I for days no deeper than we are.

I'd also love to see Sparks develop a little jump hook. Another real plus for getting the quicker shot off an not having to do so many moves. All those moves are allowing more folks time to gather around him.

Lets be reasonable I think NIT bid first-year w/Lewis as coach great accomplishments but this season is FAR from over. Kent will probably roll through rest of the season, well in the top 25 by time conference tournament starts, maybe even mid-rank in #20-#15 range who knows they are just that damn good. Damn good, yes Maybe top 50-60. Outside chance. But clear best team in MAC. AP rankings today...Kent comes in at #30 and climbing. Chances are good they will be in top 25 for their return game to Muncie, another incentive to PACK THE HOUSE. |

Our loss margin to them helped them in AP, but I don't think we played all that well. If I thought we gave our best shot, I'd agree with you maybe.
They are good, but unless they run the table in the MAC with very convincing margin it's tough. Those big conference schools just keep racking up the "good wins." One stumble against a MAC team and it'll hurt them.
