Great road win at a tough place to play. Really like the BG arena. Cards played tough to finish the game. Without Lewis and Coleman we don’t win. Love the wa Lewis coaches and love how he has Coleman playing smart ball. Coleman wants the ball and has turned into a very strong finisher!

I think we lose that game last year with Whitford coaching. Seem to be mentally tougher this year. Have to credit the coaching staff. Whitford would surprise and win a tough road game. What he did not do is make those ingredients necessary to do it part of the every day makeup of the team. The difference seems to me the emphasis Lewis puts on more aggressive defense rather than just clogging the middle and trying to help and recover. And more emphasis on stopping guards from getting into the lane, not swarming them after they get there. It's easier for this team to adjust to help and recover when needed than for Whitford teams to adjust to put pressure on shooters prevent them getting the ball. In the guard oriented game that has to be more important. |

Sellers is a mystery, hits 3's, not FTs? Sellers is a mystery in many ways Watching Sellers shoot free throws last night; I noticed he stayed in the shot on the first free throw and fell away on the second and was short. |

At some point during the second half we wear down a little after playing tough intense defense. It shows up in some of the FT shooting although we also missed them in the first half. Watched part of the E. Mich game and we had better watch out for them. One guy not Bates went for 25 and hit one from about 4ft past the mid line. Bates also hit an unbelievable shot from about the same distance. Hoping that Eastern got those shots out of their system.

Yeah, that 50% shooting from the line in the 2nd half was almost BSU's deathknell. Also, BSU attempted 13 3P shots (hit 5 for 38.5%) in the first half, but could only muster 5 attempts in the 2nd half (hit 2 for 40%). BSU had 14 turnovers. Points off TOs, in the paint, on put backs, on fast breaks and from the bench were all pretty even between the teams. BSU will have to watch the rematch and protect home court. |

I'm less comfortable about this game than I was a couple of weeks ago. |

Ohio didn't have an answer for Bates and Farakahn or I think Acuff hell the whole Eastern team. Those long shots reminded me of Rick Mount and the ones he launched just passed the 10 second line

Bates is a really bad match up for us. He might be able to name his point total. But, shut down everyone else and we have a good chance to win.

Easterns got some other dudes as well transfers who are good but have had no chemistry. Everyone out there just doing there own thing. If they put it together it could be triuble

Bates is crazy Im not sure he even has a range if he has tge ball he us in range. He seems to get disinterested and if he is not hitting becomes pouty at times.

Challenged the other guys to beat them....and they did. Oh Boy did they. Boals in his 4th or 5th year? Better find some players if he wants to stay. |

Free throws are mostly mental but mechanically we are inconsistent--especially Sparks. He shot 70% last season and is barely at 50% now. As to the rest of the team's FT%? Not acceptable and may haunt us IF it is not a priority.
Going to have to miss the EMU game due to my wife's continued battle of cancer. T Cell transplant. Hope you guys will articulate the upcoming games like you usually do. Go Cards!
