Ok mid Feb for the first time in forever we are in a position where an overall 1 seed is in play. (highly unlikely) but still in a coaches first year. We also have Already beatng teams 2 And 3. We seem to be what will be a live team in the tourney.
So lets assume we do well. Does Lewis then Burry himself with expectations by setting tge Bar to high.
Its my personal opinion that we are going to lose to Kent Akron and Toledo to close out season and then lose to one of them again in tournament conpletly erasing above scenario but lets ignore that

AND I FULLY AGREE WITH THEM. I think Toledo is very beatable, but Kent and Akron will be very tough. I also see us losing at least 1, maybe 2, we shouldn't (like at EMU). I'm convinced the dude can flat-out coach, but recruiting is up in the air until we see actual results. In response to your original question, we will most likely finish around 4th in the league, so it's not like he's winning a championship the first year (despite an undeniably HUGE turnaround). Thus, I think the expectations he's actually setting for the team are hustle, defense, fundamentals, teamwork, behavior, and discipline. For the fans, the expectation he's setting is pretty minimal right now, yet a major improvement: We will compete, we will be fun to watch, we will hustle, we won't make excuses, and he will be honest and transparent with the media and fans. |

Im hoping we got easterns best shot and we get the other eastern. What an incredible team Heath has wastes unless they are just unvoachable

To me Lewis has already shown us his recruiting abilities when he recruited our best players out of the portal last year which was awesome and why we’re discussing things like high seeding in the conference tournament. Asking if the bar is set to high is a result of us being beat down with disappointment for the last 20 years. I say raise it even higher! I bet that’s what Lewis is thinking! Besides Akron, Kent and Turdledo have their bar set that high and so should we!

They are unbelievably 7-5 in conference so they got something cooking now. The emu game is of great concern. Bates can go for 40 on us and that Acuff is going off now and we’ll be at their place. at any rate what Lewis has accomplished so far with this group is amazing. I’m just gonna keep enjoying the ride. As far as the future, I think Lewis is going to find guys who want to play for him. I think we’ll see some good transfers coming our way. |

NIU and EMU are still getting after it and have talent. We could easily lose to them. And just as easily beat Toledo or Kent. Bottom line is 4th place seems to be our destiny and the mac tourney will be a tough draw no matter how we finish. Need all DNAs clicking on all fires |

We are so used to failure, excuses and lame assertions of future "building" that things might seem unsustainably high now, and setting too high a bar if combined with a bit of tourney success. By the standards of the better MAC East programs, we are having a fairly average season so far...even if you throw in a couple tourney wins. My point for years has been that those eastern powers have absolutely Z_E_R_O inherent advantages over BSU and it's simply a disgrace that we have settled for less for so long.

I would suspect Lewis will make the effort to improve our schedule next year so I think it's possible we could have a worse record but a better team.
As others have mentioned recruiting will be key, but it's not going to be just about who comes in. It's going to be about who ... off of this year's team ... stays and who goes.

It’s been a good season thus far and as Lewis says, “you can’t take that away from these guys” and I would say from this coach.sure, Coleman came back but we lost Thomas and the one year wonder transfer from NIU. THIS SHOWS HOW GOOD Lewis has been this year. Like any MAC game for any MAC team - they are winnable, they are losable. I say we absolute win two and make it to 20 wins. Possible to get 21. Not TOTALLY out of the question for 22. A three seed would greatly enhance our chance to make it to the Championship Game. In the past we have had total collapses in February - looking good so far. I'm not sure how we will finish but we are hot and I wouldn't want to play us. I know our bench is shaky and we are probably a year away but what the hell. Eff Kent, Akron and Toledo. Eff Eastern and NIU too. Frankly if Duquesne hadn't thrown in that bullshit shot we'd be 19-6 and we've beaten all the second tier teams we are supposed to beat and only Eastern was close. I'm not saying we run the table but I think Lewis will have us ready and we will finish strong.
