The Cards couldn't stop the Rockets threes in the early part of the game and couldn't hit their own three point shots so they fell behind. To their credit the Cards rallied were down by only four, but foul trouble and failure to hit shots make it difficult to get a win.

Cards lose at home 87-81. To their credit the Cards didn't quit but did not have enough to overcome the deficit. The scoreboard shows the Ball State sophomores carried the team tonight.

I was critical of Sparks early to mid season for his “head down, one dimensional” play.
I might be mistaken but he seems to now be putting the ball on the floor a little and actually looking a bit more mobile in driving ti the basket.
Going out on a limb to assume he was being schooled on this throughout the season.

I think Coach Lewis has done well with this team, but the losses in Michigan are a real concern. I await Sherm's response to the MAC regular season record. Go Cards! RF With the injuries it’s understandable. In the past, we fall starting February and limp into Cleveland with healthy players and emotionally down. We may have injured players, but there is plenty of heart and fight in this team. Come back healthy or close, we will be a dangerous team. Like the bracket we are playing in as it gives us the best chance of winning. |

Cleary played some significant minutes in the second half. Maybe I missed some of his plays on defense, but I only saw him get badly burned once on defense. Maybe there were others and I missed them?

I love how this team plays. If Sparks is limited we are done. Maybe give Ohio a game. We were long shot odds anyway for three games. I think we could play with anyone though at full strength.
A really nice start to Lewis’s career. Can he recruit to fill the voids will really tell his worth.

RF Not comparable to Whitford team meltdowns. We were playing winning ball till the wmu game. Then we freaking beat Kent. Then the injuries and fatigue really kicked in, yet we still had a chance to beat Akron on the road. We are still fighting and competing all the way through. Whits teams often capitulated. No Coleman for two games, no sparks foe a game. Pearson not at full strength, Jacobs and sellers nursing injuries. Yet, we’re going down swinging. |
