Geez. He's very talented - I'm just not sure about his toughness and durability. The other thing that just occurred to me is that scholarships don't really matter now. You can speculate on a kid, bring him on as a "walk on" and NIL him to cover the cost of the schollie and more.

If the kid truely has Texas and Texas like schools interested in him its almost criminal to keep him here. Kinda Like Carson it was pretty obvious he was bigger than the current BSU

I am not surprised. He had pretty good production, good efficiency, AND unrealized upside. I can easily see how a P5 coach would invest a scholly.

He has that dreaded word of potential. His first 5 minutes of the second half against Kent were incredible. He just didnt assert himself enough while he was here. He's super athletic and quick. Great jumper. Sigh.

Found a random mention of Georgetown also showing interest.

If he can put it together he has those kind of skills

Now that Sellers has joined Sparks in leaving, the question I keep asking myself is: will Lewis' own recruits be more likely to stay than those of Whitford? Will the players who Lewis recruits be personality types who thrive under Lewis' approach unlike Sparks and Sellers who seem to have burned-out, disliked, or rebelled against the Lewis approach to coaching?
As of now, the only data point we have is Kaiyem Cleary who has left after being recruited and signed by Lewis. I think he left mainly over playing time. He probably didn't want to risk his last year of college eligibility to sitting on the bench most of the season. When starters and guys in the rotation start leaving who were recruited and signed by Lewis; then we'll know for sure. I'm still hopeful that doesn't happen. That the guys Lewis brings in will be more in tune to Lewis. Lewis' ability to find those personality types will make or break his success.

Cleary left because he wasn't going to play. Failed potential. Looked good but never could defend, and was really in sync on offense.
Good recruit, talent, but could not use it. A lot of JUCO players have that happen. Poor coaching, all run and gun offense, AAU style.

Cynical, but imo no player worth a damn anywhere is gonna stick around all 4 years at a bsu level school. Hell, the blue blood programs can’t even keep their guys.

Great jumper. Sigh. Lewis spoke constantly of wanting Sellers to be more assertive more consistently. He knew what he had in Jaylin. Maybe it’s just not the kid’s nature.

yea if we sign a player capable of playing at IU, Texas or where ever and they show it early they are not staying here. If they develope later maybe we keep them.

We have one JUCO this year, but one with more quick twitch athleticism and played for better team.
Our transfers look good, maybe not great, but good for MAC.
The freshmen are talented and may be hard to keep, but I know of no alternative to recruiting good freshmen.
VERY hard to attract "great" potential difference maker Upperclass transfers in NIL era. Especially bigs. We have done fairly well with P5 guys, moving down to get more prominence and PT. DJ, Coleman and others for Whit. No brass ring though ...

OR if they are like Sparks...he might prove mistaken in his move, recruited over, buried on the bench as a senior. He will play this year at IU, but it looks doubtful to me he is anything but a role player there this year.
