Here's the official quote from Lewis. "I believe that Ball State University has gone above and beyond to provide a foundation of success for Boogie's future, including graduation. Although we are disappointed in the timing of this decision, we will always support graduating our student-athletes regardless of risk due to current NCAA rules regarding transfer eligibility and other external influences. We are thankful for Boogie's contributions to our program and wish him nothing but success in his future."
Lewis more likely said: Do believe this Mother*#@er? F*$& Him! Yeah, there was a LOT of read between the lines on that statement. "we bent over backwards for this dude, there was tampering, and well good luck to him"

What does losing all three starters say about our coaching staff?

What does losing all three starters say about our coaching staff? Really? Let the coaches get the kids that fit best into their program. Lewis is getting that done. Some of those guys from last year did not like to put the work in. Let's wait a couple of years.

The art of recruiting late in the summer, at a mid-major, since the inception of the transfer portal.

Not so much the coaching staff but the sickening entitlement of players who get a little bruise on their egos are out the door to another school that will anoint them as the best thing since sliced bread. See Sunday's 60 minutes interview with Sir Charles Barkley. He sliced through the joke of NCAA and college basketball today

I think everyone expected this to happen. Just would've been nice to have made the move in, ohh say April. But par for the course. The guy always puts himself first above the team. Don't let the door hit you in the ass. He had to graduate first and didn't until July...... So, he wasn't planning on staying. Yeah.

And now we’ve upgraded with “kids who fit best in the program “. Shouldn’t the improvement be rather immediate?

I would have to think that there had been coach/player dialogue going on that surely led Lewis to believe this player was going to stay 🤔
Maybe actually graduating came as a complete surprise to our departing player?

Football and men’s basketball this year is going to be “rough” There's always women's basketball. Sallee has a solid group returning with some pretty good recruits coming in this year.

I actually like Lewis but I have heard directly from reliable sources that his way in the locker room and in practices may be too old school for today’s players particularly with the portal.

Thats been obvious since day 1 Kids are not used to it anymore. Most kids are soft these day and they are only going to get softer. its stsrting at the youth level.

At the time of the hire, I speculated on this as being the reason he remained an assistant as long as he did. But what I was taught here was that Lewis is tough. This is proven by the way he toughly yells f-bombs in front of children. And as soon as he could replace the players he inherited with tough players, we would start wining championships. I think I've got that right.

I think the kids he inherited were mostly tough. But, they were not used to that very heavy handed (and profane) tough love style of coaching after the sweet, gentle soft touch of Whit. There was an adjustment period for players and coach and it still resulted in a 20 win season and what could have been a very strong MAC finish until guys started breaking down. We did not finish well at all. No disputing that. But, had Peyton and Sellers stayed we would challenge for the championship this coming season. It was NOT good for the program for them to leave and I don't think anyone was suggesting that.
We'll see how it goes. I'm expecting a rough year, but, maybe we'll be surprised.

When does school start? I assume transfers need to be on campus when school starts to be eligible day one.
Do we have any potential additions?
