If so, subtraction by addition in my opinion. Definitely. It's always good to shake things up a little by losing your top remaining player in minutes, scoring, assists, defensive rebounds, steals, FT shooting%, 3pt shooting%, field goals made, free throws made, and three pointers made. |

Lewis absolutely was counting on Boogie to lead the team this year. This a blow whether you like Boogie or not. Lewis's bitterness was pretty evident in the last part of his statement. It's freaking August Boogie, was playing the way the coach wanted you to play that hard for ya? The coach who pretty much kissed your ass at the same time he was trying to hold you accountable?

Yes, Boogie is not exactly the platonic ideal of a team player, but at some point, Lewis is going to have to retain SOME good player if he is ever going to contend for anything worthwhile.

We needed Coleman to stay. What we have left is questionable and we won't know a thing about this team till it hits the floor in real competition. I like the new young pieces, but, they are young and will make young mistakes and be overmatched like youth tends to be, unless you're Bonzi Wells or T. Smith....

The new players might be nice, but they aren't all conf. level players, at least not yet. We may have one kid coming in nearly equal to what we have lost, might have another surprise who is as good, might even have some chance the other players all reach potential, but you are right. Once we lost Sparks we were probably out of contention to be a top MAC team. Unless there is some rabbit pulled out of the hat we're in a dogfight in the middle of the scrum in the MAC.
With Coleman we might have had a good chance to break out into one of the top spots.

Jihand and Pearson will need to play over their heads for us to have a chance at anything. Doughty will play his ass off, but, he's a freshman and still developing. Can't expect too much there. Bottomline, we're gonna have to have surprisingly strong guard play to stay closer to the top 4. Hendriks is the missing link! |
