Break out over a Division II Indiana State defense. I'm not sold until they at least do it against a MAC level program. Fair enough, but we do know we have a very good MAC level RB, and that SEC defense at Georgia is awfully good, so that game was no surprise to be stifled.
The Ky defense isn't as good, so there is a question mark there, why we couldn't get the running game going better.
I think the best comparison we have right now is Kent State's running game vs. Georgia in 2022 vs. what Ball State did this year. In last season's Georgia game for Kent State, Marquez Cooper carried the ball 21 times for 90 yards (4.3 average) and 1 TD. He also caught 2 passes for 40 yards. In this year's Georgia game with BSU, Marquez Cooper carried the ball 12 times for 8 yards (0.7 average) and 0 TD's. He also caught 1 pass for 5 yards. Assuming Georgia's defense is approximately equivalent in 2023 to what they had in 2022 (and it might be worse with all the guys they lost to the NFL draft at the end of last season), we have a long way to go.

That’s kinda how I see it.

Fcs but we get the point... Our o line is not great its gotta get better Yep, it's mediocre. We need the oline to be better than mediocre given the lack of playmaking WR's and a freshman QB. Cooper can't always make his own lanes out there. He's a bowling ball but he needs a seam. I think the only back we have who can approximate what Steele gave us in terms of yards after contact is Spegal and he won't reach that level of production. I'd like to see him get more carries though to see what he can do.
