Today’s emu game presser wasn’t much better. Lots of vague generalities about gotta stick together, clean some things up, we’re gonna be alright, no big changes needed, blah blah blah. Either he’s an excellent liar or he truly sees nothing wrong with our approach, scheme, personnel, coaching, recruiting, practices, play calling, etc etc. it’s all love and not nothing a little better execution and smarter play can’t cure. All Neu pressers or interviews are the same. It's a waste of time because he doesn't say anything. Just generic stuff.

I'd assume he knows overall better than we do what our limitations and outright weaknesses are. Probably also knows what degree of change is possible and whether he can change things dramatically AND get results quickly. Some of the things you list above are weaknesses there is no dramatic change that is a fix. Some changes we've kicked around have costs and benefits. I don't see him changing press conference talk and convincing anybody all is well. What would he say that really would make us happy and actually improve things this week? I don't see it. No wonder it's mostly blah blah, blah...

I think most people just want to see some fight in the coach. Not that it'll change anything, but might give some a reason to hope that there's something to be salvaged with 7 games left.

We know he can’t shred the players or staff publicly, but show some damn fire. Being a cliche zombie isn’t going to get fans excited about anything when you’re getting embarrassed on Saturdays.

If only we had Jim Mora Sr in our press conferences.

'Cliche zombie' nailed it for me. I swear to God I feel like I'm listening to somebody running for public office...I agree that harder questions need to be asked...maybe it was asked and I missed it but what happened with Jordan Riley at Western Michigan. Was he benched for the unsportsmanlike penalty or is he injured?

I understand that coaches don't want to publicly call out specific players for fear of losing the room. That is the right approach. I also get the "us against the world" method of motivating and galvanizing your team/staff. Keep it in the family/locker room.
But, somewhere in the mix has to be a dose of respect for your fan base. Today, more than ever, fans have access to a tone of data and can watch every game. Plus, there's the simple eye test. Do we look and play like a team that is skilled, confident, prepared, disciplined and aggressive. There comes a time as a leader, coach, parent, mentor to administer shall I say a REALITY CHECK! How ironic that screen name was born during the Lynch losing streak when we heard a bunch of the same speeches and apologists abounded on the board who chirped about patience and we probably can't do any better, blah blah blah.
Lewis may or may not be successful, long term, as our head basketball coach but in one year he's proven to be a huge upgrade in terms of wins, visibility, accountability and a contagious attitude to not settle for being OK.

If only we had Jim Mora Sr in our press conferences. Everyone knows the "PLAYOFFS!?" rant, which was of course comedy gold. Most people dont remember this was part of a larger rant that called out Peyton Manning to a shocking degree. See here for detail: link

Agree with the posts above criticizing Neu for needing to address fans more. He's a hell of lot better than Whitford in engaging fans, especially in fund raising and social settings, but he's not Mike Lewis.
Maybe that's OK with staff, very corporate...but fans are more emotional.
Needs better balance there between blah, blah and fire where the sizzle for fans is down to embers in serious danger of dying.

Neu has been here too long with Whitford mediocrity the whole time. The eye test shows a team with little fire, poor execution, and limited athleticism. Coach speak can't beat the eye test.
