Neu has been here too long with Whitford mediocrity the whole time. The eye test shows a team with little fire, poor execution, and limited athleticism. Coach speak can't beat the eye test. Nuts and bolts. We don't have enough playmaking talent, we are a step slow/not as athletic in key positions and we execute very poorly. Our defense appears to be out of position/confused. Too often we look like we're just going through the motions or are frustrated with play calling/schemes. We all see it.... we all see it... I don't fault the players much at all. It starts with the staff not recruiting well enough, not preparing the team to play well enough, and appearing to not be using schemes that maximize the talent we do have. Especially the offense.....

Some of the problems defy understanding. Or maybe we're wrong even?
We thought defense would be better, generally this group has praised staff there. Yet as you say, that side has not played consistently or all that well.
We wrote off Hatcher, yet he looked OK to good this last game.
We gripe about play calling, but stupid mistakes are adding up. No offense is going to be good unless you execute, avoid bonehead penalties, and so on. I would like a different style, but am not sure where we have personnel that would really shine in wide open offense either.
Kelly is a player we want to see more, maybe something there. Still, he isn't a bell cow exactly, and not sure how much usage he should have. You don't change a whole offense to look better on a few plays a game without losing some things too.
My biggest gripe is we start so slow, just never get any flow going. Like we're not ready. Both sides.
That's really hard to blame on play calling or offensive philosophy. Once you fall behind, this style is in trouble, true, but the falling behind part isn't a good game plan...

Our problems defy understanding and we're all probably just wrong. Nothing to see here. Move along. If you were our AD, Bill Lynch and Al Brown would be coaching our men's programs.

That's nothing like what I said. Show me where I say any of it. Clearly I said something's wrong. Although, I may agree that if we don't have budget we end up with a Bill Lynch who couldn't travel to recruit or hire staff. Al Brown? We found sometimes found money and have sometimes found upgrades in BB. Except when we spent over budget for 2 FB coaches...and when we hired an Al Brown when nobody would touch the job for our money after the coach I won't name had to be paid a year after killing the Program. Lewis, we're lucky to get at this salary and this required a lot of financial finagling to find. Besides a fiery coach Neu in a press conference isn't the problem, is it? Putting money into upgrade in FB is not entirely without drawbacks. We have a problem, I don't have a solution, And I don't hear you presenting one either.

If only we had Jim Mora Sr in our press conferences. Everyone knows the "PLAYOFFS!?" rant, which was of course comedy gold. Most people dont remember this was part of a larger rant that called out Peyton Manning to a shocking degree. See here for detail: linkI can't say as though I remember any of that, but dang!

Towriss writes one check and we upgrade. Stop with the financial ramifications That is possible. Doesn't end financial concerns. Two things. Big gifts now for FB mean other gifts, maybe bigger and better used, aren't going to be made. How big? How long? A million here, a million there adds up... That "one check" will not suddenly mean we solve most problems. Just maybe remove one weakness for a relatively short time. As staffing and other expenses continue to escalate it's a band aid. We don't have any donor or group of donors replace the revenue bigger conferences produce.

Its not like we should be shocked go back and look at pre season polls we did. Most of us had 3-6. Its looking like maybe 3 if were lucky. What is shocking is how inept we have looked. Its only one MAC game but we are not beating anyone playing like that. Mike also has a power that even when shits at its darkest the majority of the players and parents stand firmly behind him

To date, he hasn't done that.

Frustration reaching a boiling point as we keep lamenting over the same shortcomings for over a month now. Money will not solve this at this time but only make the suffering more comfortable unless there is a complete house cleaning. The word purge comes to mind.

We've been lamenting the same shortcomings for the majority of Mike's tenure, unfortunately. When things don't change/improve/become less frequent in nature it's pretty apparent where it all starts. Much as I like the guy there's just not much evidence he can create and maintain a program that's generally any more than mediocre. Same issues every year = really need to make a complete overhaul.
