A good coach adjusts to best utilize the players he has to work with. We have not seen that from Neu. He stubbornly sticks to an offense that doesn't work, and tries to make the players adjust to his system. There's your nutshell. Perfect.

In today's presser Mike is saying the right things: Haven't done a good job changing their identity to match the personnel after injuries to Hunt/Robinson/Pemberton. Says Kelly made a lot of explosive plays vs emu and has to be a bigger part of what we're doing. (duh) But, he's said that about Kelly every week and nothing has changed. Will it finally? We'll see. On the extra down side, Mike talked about the penalties that are just killing us, and the poor execution. Someone, citing Neu saying every week we have to improve our execution, asked what does Mike thing will change that now.... "Have to continue to work on it, have to do a better job, starts with me, etc. etc." We're 7 weeks in now. Kinda late to expect anything to change at this point. Mike did say, "we are what we have" meaning, our personnel isn't good enough to do what we want to do after all the injuries...... (that should have been addressed as soon as you lost Hunt and then Robinson/Pemberton, like after 2 games?)

So were all our QB's duds or were they not developed? I do not believe every one of them were duds. I don't believe most of them were duds. Recently? We got quite a lot out of one, did win. Have to count 2 years ago as getting a lot out of QB. But, not really having a good team or building a program. So maybe not QB duds. No great talents though. We may have more QB talent this year than any in recent past. Lots else wrong. Not failure(yet)to develop a QB this year either. Too early to say. Last year we made a blunder in staying with a limited team, not looking ahead. This year it's that mistake partly. But too many different things are going wrong at once to blame one thing.

Not sure "adjusting" was enough to win these last 3 games, could have been in the games though. We are what we have and that isn't very promising right now. Still don't see a path. Maybe hold it together enough to see dim hope next year and beyond? Boy that's depressing.

"Yeah. I mean, obviously, we're early in our week of preparation. We're going to keep continuing to talk about that."
Wow. 20 words of total inconclusive gibberish.

Mike Neu = James Whitford Jr. Yeah, both practice coach speak as do 9 out of 10 coaches, and both have an expensive buyout year, that giving an AD limited degrees of freedom.
Neu has had one pretty good year. Whit never really got to that. But, then despite that, he seems a lot further from having the Program move into in the top 4-5 in the MAC.

Mike Neu = James Whitford Jr. Accurate in most ways. Neu is better in a room full of people than Jim but that’s a low bar. A bowl of fruit was better in a room than Jim.

I think we are seeing the first signs of what his explanation is going to be after the season…’lost my top wide-receiver, top tight end and #2 RB (who was playing better than Cooper in camp) and we just couldn’t overcome it.’ That still doesn’t explain why he refuses to let Kelly throw the ball, how undisciplined we are, the defense not showing up so far and the brutal offensive play-calling.

Mike Neu = James Whitford Jr. Not quite. Whitford always TRIED to use the most anodyne coachspeak possible, but would get tangled up occasionally and inadvertently say some hilarious things, e.g. "click on all fires". This was maybe the best thing about his whole coaching tenure here. I don't see that Neu provides any comparable amusement.

It is a combination of all those things.
I can see why he is reluctant to have Kelly pass though. He sees the results in practice and Kelly may need those good receivers more than the others.
But, undisciplined play and outright random bonehead errors are a huge problem. Listless play, and lack of energy (especially beginning game} I would add. That is an explanation or cause, but it is inexplicable how it happens on a widespread basis. Defense and Offense.

First half points so far - 7, 0, 10, 0, 10, 10. Neu obviously has not had the team ready to play. Not even against Indiana State. Is he letting Lynch continue to call plays that don't work so he will have someone to blame at the end of the season?

His contract is through the 2025 season, so all the bitching won't get him fired. Empty stands won't get him fired. Transfers out the wazoo won't get him fired. Losing won't get him fired.
It's simple economics. We can't afford to fire him unless someone steps up with the buyout. After this season we'll still owe him $1.3 million, unless we "Mel Tucker" him and fire him for cause.
