Has anyone seen a delay of game by the defense before today? The LT hung his head for his false start and the refs huddled up and bailed him out. One of Central’s drives was like 60% accomplished by the refs. |

I feel good for the team. It is hard to go through a season riddled with frustration. They deserved this win

This season has sucked and there are no excuses but we have been pretty banged up. Got some guys back today which helped. I think more importantly the switch to Kelly and move away from the coach talk towards fuck it lets roll and learn together lifted a bunch of weight off the team and even the staff. Its what everyone has wanted for over a year. Its probably all short lived and we might not win many more but it feels good. Staff will not keep this offense, Im not even sure they should but its keeping us alive in games and its more fun for us so enjoy it.

Has anyone seen a delay of game by the defense before today? Yes, against Ball State during the ISU game. It's happened twice this season and I've not seen it in all my years prior. |

These refs were atrocious. Every flag required a minimum 30 second meeting between all officials before a call could be made, they bailed out Central on multiple occasions. Refused to measure that 4th down even after moving the ball back a few inches, and gave CMU all kinds of free time during that last drive due to their incompetence.

The attitude on the sideline was amazing to watch after that first offensive drive. You saw the entire defense perk up, like they were thinking hey we finally have an offense worth playing defense for and not feeling like it's a waste. That opening drive did wonders for the team's demeanor on the sideline and it was great to see

I can't find the numbers, but it sure seemed time of possession favored the Cardinals. Those long drives of mainly running plays ate a lot more clock than 3 incomplete passes and out. Giving the defense time to rest before returning to the field has to help. The opposing defense never being sure if Kelly or Cooper is going to run on any particular play helped Cooper a lot. That should continue with this style of offense. |
