Ive talked talked to Tayler Persons several times over the last few years the last time a couple months ago. He has worked his way up the overseas ladder. Each year moving to a better league better team etc. He has told me he has had multiple NBA teams reach out but all want you to come back and start G league first. He says there is no money in the G league the only contract info I have ever found had him making 78,000 this was a couple contracts ago. Euro seasons are also on average much shorter. Not a bad GiG though Persons a solid journeyman pro. Sparks has to develop to do that well or better. His practice and any higher level game experience he gets against good players might be better to do that anyway. It's a pretty short career, but these guys love to play. The salary in Europe a little deceptive. There are perks, including travel, lodging. And as you say it's not as much a grind. Not easy for family though. He is married has a kid now they are happy and making it work. He at some point said he was buying a house in I assume KOKO/Indy somewhere close. If your young and love playing why not you can play 10-15 years pretty easily.. Longer for some as I see names from years ago still pop up. It really is about how much you want to grind you can actually play multiple seasons in different countries leagues if you want.
The end goal of all of this is to somehow find/work your way to a spot in the actual Euroleague where salaries jump too 500k-Millions..

Desmond Bane is averaging 25.5 ppg for the Memphis Grizzlies. I include him in this thread because he is so closely associated with BSU in the public mind due to his visit here. That visit being a key period of his life, when he really became the player that he now is.

Sparks and Bum did not like playing for Lewis; I’m not sure if he is to in they’re face or they’re to soft

Sparks and Bum did not like playing for Lewis; I’m not sure if he is to in they’re face or they’re to soft Interesting idea. If there is something there it might be neither believed they were a bad ass. Both played hard, were tough, did tough things, but Lewis wants players with an edge. You didn't often maybe never saw from either a hard edged "I'm going to win this thing, try to stop me." Now none of our players last year really were that, or as intense as Lewis was as a player, he always believed he was the toughest guy. Persons would have been perfect player for Lewis. So you could be right, he wanted something they didn't quite have, they knew it. That couldn't be fun. Still, I think the two cases different, and made sense for both. Sparks wanted what IU offered. Bumb didn't fit, wanted to play more, had lost his shot, needed a change.

Through 4 games Boogie is averaging 4 ppg in 16.5 minutes. Wonder how much Nebraska is paying him?

Through 4 games Boogie is averaging 4 ppg in 16.5 minutes. Wonder how much Nebraska is paying him? Lewis said all transfers made more than his assistants I think so I was thinking it was $100k plus. What I don’t get is do they HAVE to pay these role players to get them to go to these bigger schools or would they go anyway?

What I don’t get is do they HAVE to pay these role players to get them to go to these bigger schools or would they go anyway? Two things: 1. These big schools have the money. If you don't pay, others do pay, you don't get your choice. 2. Coleman and others aren't just role players necessarily. The buyer has a chance to get a starter, willing to pay for that chance.

Sparks Vs Uconn 8 min 1 rehound 2 fouls Yeah and this is the non-conference part of the schedule. Once conference part of the schedule starts and the rotation tightens from 10 to 8 players, Spark's minutes will go to zero.

Sparks looked really good today against Louisville. 9 points, 3 rebounds and a block. There is a highlight on ESPN with Sparks throwing it down!

Woodson wants more toughness so I think that means more minutes for Sparks.
