Cards win big today in a tune up for Western on Jan. 3 beating Oakland City. I think it is counted as an exibition game.

Trine University was an exhibition and also now Oakland. Thought normally that we would only have one exibition game any way announcers said it was an exhibition game.

I don't know, but it showed on their schedule as an exhibition, but it did not on ours.

D2 exhibitions are not necessarily & an exhibition game for the D1 team they are playing. It does not make sense but that is the way the two divisions schools can play with a difference in how the game is to both of them as this was.

Cards play Western tonight at 7pm ESPN+. Tomorrow night. Watched the first half. Very entertaining to watch. Love how aggressive they are on D looking for opportunities to trap and pick the next pass. They share the ball well on offense!

Western had I think two good players injured but our inside game would have still been effective. Hampton is something else! Behind the back pass to Bischof. Our press really catches up with these teams in the 4th quarter.

Just read the posts on the men's game and the wailing and gnashing of teeth concerning mental toughness, grit resolve to play lock down defense etc. Well the Lady Cards played at Akron and it was lock down defense, grit and resolve not to lose brought them home with an overtime victory. The Cards started the game in a fog. Not mentally ready to play. Missed shots, unforced turnovers and generally getting smashed in the mouth by a fired up Akron team set the tone for the day. Ball State ended the first quarter leading 10-8. The only thin that kept the team in the game was that smothering press that forced Akron into 20 turnovers. Ball State had 11 and I think 13 steals with Hampton doing her thing. Akron hit some big time shots at the right time and so did Becki who finally got untracked. With under a second left in the game BSU was behind 2 and Becki took a 3 point shot and was fouled getting three shots she hit two putting the game into overtime. BSU led by Becki and Bischoff and the rest of the team held Akron to I think 4pts. Ball stat won by seven. The difference between the men's team and the women is that the women simply refuse to lose. That press during the game was relentless particularly in the fourth quarter and overtime. Becki couldn't hit the side of the barn for much of the game until she did at crunch time. She beat Georgia and led the way in overtime at Akron. She simply refuses to lose. Another one is Annie Rouch who ended with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Bischoff ended with three 3 pointers. The team shot 38%. The team just couldn't hit for most of the game but the game verified that when the wheels seem to be coming off that the one thing you can do is play lock down defense. Did I watch the men's game? Yes for about 3 min. I turned back to the Akron game didn't want to go over the cliff with the men. I knew that the press was going to give us a chance to win but it took overtime to do it. Next game is at Buffalo.
