Being at the top of the MAC puts a bulls eye on your back. Ball State finally won against Buffalo after taking their best shot. Buffalo ahead at end of first quarter by 18. At half time Buffalo had a 4 point lead and in the fourth BSU took control and won. Akron played like world beaters but lost. Akron played Central last night and the announcer said Akron didn't look like the same team that played BSU. Ball state is only shooting about 38% while taking the best shot from these teams. Buffalo has two exceptional unstoppable players. OOne of them was Watson who simply couldn't miss from anywhere on the court. The other was a freshman who is/will become a superstar in the MAC. Everyteam in the MAC has one or two players who are really good and could play anywhere. The thing is that BSU has 5 to 7 really good players that overcome the output of the two stars on any one team. Hampton hit 4 3pointwers and did her thing on defense. These other MAC teams do not have the depth to finish games against BSU. Exceptions being Kent, Toledo, BG. At some point I think we will lose a game or two. It could be this weekend against BG. Must rebound better and hit layups. I think we missed 5 or 6 layups.

Yeh, the number of layups we missed was pretty significant in this game and made it even closer.
Not only were they misses, I'd say we lost out on each and every rebound related to them, also.
Can't afford all those misses against some of the better teams.

Yeh, the number of layups we missed was pretty significant in this game and made it even closer. That seems to be a recurring theme every year with this team. Really frustrating. |

Hampton is the best we have in finishing layups and Becki normally is pretty good but wasn't against Buffalo. Much of the misses have to do with being out of position and forcing them. Annie sometimes gets too far under the basket and still attempts to make it rather than passing the ball out. Ball State is not the only team that misses layups they all do. Mens teams also have problems making what seems to be a simple shot. Jihad has had problems this year finishing around the basket but is getting better.

The question is BSU soft or physical was answered. We are a tough imposing physical team. If you get a chance watch Alex Richards and Porter from BG. It was a war where Richards threw Porter to the floor and nothing was called "play on". Marie K also played tough as did Annie R. A 15 point victory where BS shut down BG leading scorer. Amy Valasko from BG scored around 27 playing her heart out much respect to her. WE shot 45% from 3pt range and won rebounds. Next up is at Central at 11am on Wed.

CBS sports Toledo at home. I don't think Central has the fire power to stay with us. Toledo another story. We will show up and fight hard and maybe even win.
