I don't think enough people still read the Star Press to have it affect attendance. It's a short version of the IndyStar with a very small bit of local reporting. It's a waste of money and effort. The community would be lucky if it was sold to a company that gave a damn about Muncie and East Central Indiana. Smaller towns in the state have much better newspapers that actually give a damn. Screw Gannett.

The truth is that in a short time there will be no newspapers. If one of the people on this blog want to go to the games & report to us I would pay for a newspaper size report. I have no idea if others would too but if someone is willing to let me know & the cost of Basketball & Football reports.

Here is the link for the SIUE game: ballstatesports.com/news/2023/12/10/mens-basketball-cardinals-handle-cougars-to-improve-to-7-0-at-home.aspxThe Daily News usually has a reporter on it as well.

Because the game involves 2 state schools, is in Indianapolis and is part of a doubleheader with Purdue, you can expect the Indy Star will cover it. It's also likely that the Tribune-Star out of Terre Haute will cover it although I wouldn't expect much Ball State insight from their coverage.

I wouldn't bet on the IndyStar covering it.

Their articles about Arizona will get more column space than the BSU-ISU game.

BSU has always been an after thought to the Indy Star even though we have a large number of Alumni in Indy and surrounding areas.

Yes, the StarPress coverage is next to nothing, but looking at the big picture, would you rather be existing back in the time where the newspaper was pretty much your only source, or now when you can instantly access the press conferences, stats, comprehensive analytic national rankings, stats & evaluations & news & highlights video on potential recruits and transfers, rumors scuttlebutt, wiener jokes and hilariously bad takes from this site, cult-like Facebook pages on local athletes, etc. etc.?

All true. Except. The guy actually employed to cover events might be more responsible, have more access to the team and maybe more incentive to be accurate. He's being paid to dig out the things that aren't as public and doing so furthers his career. I'm not underestimating the crazed enthusiasm we all have as fans, or anti-fans, as it may be, just saying maybe that's more incentive than the amusement, the fame and other personal satisfaction we get publishing on this site.
Maybe?
