@petethamel
Sources: Ball State coach Mike Neu will return for a ninth season in 2024. Ball State went 4-8 this year. First-year athletic director Jeff Mitchell plans to explore ways to enhance the program and fully understand better ways to maximize football results.
Neu is a Ball State alum and won the MAC in 2020 and also delivered the school’s first-ever bowl win. He's created a strong culture and belief in the locker room.
The decision is an acknowledgment that the job is difficult and Mitchell aims to figure out a path for Ball State to consistently compete for MAC titles, as he’ll analyze scheduling, resources and NIL to help best position Ball State football.

I hope we are an inspired football team next year that cleans up the mistakes that cost us games every single year of Neu, I hope our QB play is markedly better. I hope we still have Stockton as DC. I hope we do not have Lynch as OC. I hope Mitchell is able to scare up some reasonable NIL to keep and/or attract some play makers.

I truly believe we were a competent OC away these last two years from going bowling.
It’s time for there to not be a Lynch in a play calling role. Appreciate the family and the love they have for Muncie and Ball State. Have to be innovative in todays game.

Should've gone bowling in 2019, too. That was a crappy end to the season.

Exactly. The talent was there. The scheme and play calling was not. Should've gone bowling in 2019, too. That was a crappy end to the season. What was it, 4 straight losses? The defense was really bad and was the main culprit there. The offense was actually good that year.

Star Press confirms Neu will return. Feel sort of bummed, even though I like Mike. He ha s got to make some changes. He has got to keep Stockton. He needs to show MAJOR improvement next year.i didn’t attend the last four home games as I was totally upset at the loss in the second home game, it was an embarrassing display of college football!

Here's the harsh reality...we will be having this same conversation like deja-vu about this time next year when we've won 5, maybe 6 games

Here's the harsh reality...we will be having this same conversation like deja-vu about this time next year when we've won 5, maybe 6 games If they keep Kevin Lynch at OC it will be 3 wins. Remember the trend. Kevin Lynch BSU OC Results 2020 - 7 wins 2021 - 6 wins 2022 - 5 wins 2023 - 4 wins 2024 - 3 wins
