I don't know how much money gymnastics gets but they just won a meet which included N. Carolina ,Rutgers and Utah State and are picked to win the MAC. Because gymnastics is the most absolutely ridiculous college sport there is. There's no point to having it except Title IX. Think about it, female gymnasts peak in their early teens. It's a very high injury sport, and is thus very costly for us.

Tavion Woodard landed up — Boise state. Wonder if TStock had any influence on Woodard landing there.

I think the Olympics, and other high level competitions, have implemented a minimum age restriction because some countries (looking at you China, North Korea, Eastern Europe) were suspected of sending really young kids(10-13) who some believe have some built in natural psychological and physical advantages. But I agree with your point that female gymnasts peak in their early teens.

Hunt flipped his commitment from South Carolina to Texas A&M. Patrick Dougherty is the TEs coach at TAMU now. Also, WR Gathings is no longer committed. My guess is that was more of the staff encouraging him to look elsewhere. Hunt changed his mind again and is apparently sticking with South Carolina. I had heard game one from people who should know that he had already taken money from Michigan and he wasn't going to play this year. Then he surprisingly (at least surprising to me) came up injured. Obviously a false rumor or something significantly changed. Shows what the rumor mill is worth sometimes. I also heard Koziol was going to Michigan. Another miss.

You've noticed a lot of HS programs get eliminated over the past 30 years due to insurance rider costs and problems with coaches who do not know how to properly spot gymnasts during workouts. Cheerleading has some similar issues. Programs have chosen to simplify their cheer routines to mitigate risk.

I get the insurance/injury/liability argument. Not sure why it matters that most of the best gymnasts peak at a young age.
In what sport do we pretend that college athletes are at the peak of their athletic prowess? Certainly not football ... or basketball ... or baseball ... or any other sport I can think of

The liability for injury falls on BSU. Whether they peak in their teens is beside the issue because there exists a BSU gymnastics team with members. I do not know if certain sports require an additional insurance rider, but high schools and colleges have dropped the sport over the 30 years due to liability issues.

So age being brought up as an issue is really no issue at all. Got it.
