So "gutting other programs and student activities" is somehow more palatable when you're going to a LITERALLY meaningless bowl game in Nowhere, Alabama? A bowl that will cost you as much as the coach's yearly salary? What's the difference? You're still taking money from somewhere else. It's just that one is to congratulate a mediocre season, and one is to try to improve beyond a bad season (and bad head coaching record in general). Nobody want to look at the big picture, or think long-term. That's why football at our level just needs to die....and quickly...like as in 10 years ago... Yet it appears that our less-than-mediocre of all university endeavors will NOT be allowed to flourish but continue on a directionless path to even lower levels of money-sucking mediocrity. Lord Geoffrey is only doing the bidding of some unknown powers that somehow relish sitting in an empty stadium basking in FBS anonymity.

And every year there are FCS schools wanting a piece of the FBS action. In this new day and age, I don’t comprehend the investment. There just has to be some Lucky Charms’ pot of gold that we don’t know about.

Usually a donor or donors willing to invest, and a record of attendance and existing revenue higher than ours, with optimistic projection of more. Having reputation and identity at the lower level as a FB power. All with a dream of national recognition that might be generated...

Village pub... I check this board because I am an alum and fan of BSU unlike some of the Board members and athletic department employees

Former Card Bryant Haines is going to be IU’s d coordinator. His JMU defenses were damn good. If he does well at IU next year maybe he’ll be on the shortlist as HC candidate for us when Neu loses his job…. ( I don’t hope Neu loses his job next year, I hope we’re really good)

Hope this is a long con on his part to take down IU from the inside.

And let's be honest, checking this board isn't the most productive thing most of us do in our days. In fact, most visits here are more like sticking with a bad movie for 2 hours only to realize the ending was even worse than the storyline itself.

Group therapy for Ball State Sports Syndrome isn't supposed to be all fun.

Part of the group therapy was a required viewing of Sammy Terry C+ B movies with Boris Korloff and/or Lon Chaney. This requirement is to toughen us up to endure unbelievable athletic losses.

We simply don’t have enough money to play with the big boys and the portal not to mention NIL.
We should change conferences and put any NIL money in football all into basketball and try and build a real program!
Easier to fund a solid team in basketball

I'm so tired of the MAC and BSU chasing the football pipe dream/ black hole.

Easier said than done. The changing conference part.

Easier said than done. The changing conference part. True but conferences are constantly in flux these days. Isn't Western Illinois leaving the Missouri Valley and Summit leagues for the OVC? Schools have been laying waste to conference tradition for a long time now. You would think BSU should at least be exploring the possibility.
