The demeanor of the team is to play not to lose late in games, clearly. We play so uptight in crunch time and it shows obviously in the win-loss column. Lewis has them playing scared, I guess. Either that or they just aren’t winners and no one is capable of making winning plays in crunch time. What ever it is they don’t play freely and with joy at winning time. Robotic and dysfunctional. As Bashir said in the presser, “our offense doesn’t work.” The question becomes, is that on the players, the style of offense preferred by the coach, or both? |

We move and screen less than all of our opponents. |

Our movement on offense does at times appear to be chaotic. A lot of moving for the sake of moving. Sometimes just getting out of each others way. I suppose I would prefer that over standing around the perimeter instead. Might wear out the defense that way, but with our lack of bench it might be wearing us out instead. Basheer has to look in the mirror himself for our offensive struggles as well lately. He’s left about 20 points out there from gimme range. I know he’s getting hacked and beat up from the defense, but when you’re the focal point on offense you have to be stronger. Mentally and physically. He’s not quite there yet with either. |

If you watch Lewis, it appears that almost every shot outside causes him to have a cow. I get the impression that Jones especially looks afraid to shoot---despite being one of our better defensive players. Jihad the last three games has looked snakebit with little to no confidence in his shots. The other thing that drives me to drink is our inbound sets...nobody moves enough. Just not impressed with the whole program. We have to win out and I don't see that happening.

We are missing too many pieces to be an effective offensive team. We don’t have a true point guard or a true post up 4/5. We have been forced to start guys that should be coming off of the bench. Jihad is probably the only true starter we have at this moment as the rest would be role players on good Mac teams off of the bench. Yes, Lewis shit the bed by not replacing his 3 big transfers. No excuses, I believe the guy can coach but he better find kids that are like minded as him. He cannot coach soft kids because he sucks the life right out of them. The examples are right in front of our faces. If not, he will be back coaching a power 5 team as an assistant.
I give him next year to completely turn this around. If not, don’t let the door hit him in the ass. This has been a horrendous year. I see a group of soft kids that have absolutely no basketball IQ. Some are skilled but just don’t understand the game of basketball. Why we were not attacking the rim just blew my mind the last 4 minutes. It honestly does not matter as this group would be one and done in the tournament anyway. I hope Lewis has a list of guys that need to go as shitty as it sounds. We cannot bring back half of this roster if he expects a turn around.

Most people both do and don't listen. They do listen to things they have been convinced are worthwhile and compelling.

Something to keep in mind here: another coach who employed the Bob Knight Junior routine, Dan Dakich, once made a decision that was against his immediate financial best interests when he backed out of the WVa job. Just saying.
