I’m going out on a limb and say that Hendriks committing to stay next year is not a plus to the program. Honestly he was a man tonight. Big Ben has come a long way this year. IMO, I look forward to his return and continued improvement. I have enjoyed his play this year.

I will give props to Lewis on Hendricks development. He is much better compared to the Whitford years. It should not be to awfully long to find out who is leaving. Still hoping that 4 transfer out that are not named, Jihad, Doughty, Bailey, Anderson, Pearson, Middleton, Jones. I am assuming Hendricks will be back so that makes 8 with 13 scholarships. Is Brittan-Watts coming back? If so, that makes 9 with 2 committed recruits. That leaves Zagorzac, Brown, Bell & Adams. I am also assuming Futa is a walk-on. They all cannot come back. If they would all stay and you count Brittan-Watts and the 2 incomers, you have 15 kids for 13 scholarships. Something has to give. There’s going to be a mass exodus. One feel good game doesn’t change that fact. I liked how we played without jihad tonight. Play with the kids that want to be here.

Announcers on ESPN just said Anderson, Pearson, and Hendriks all claim they are coming back for next season. I read this differently. Might this be aslo be an indicator of who is unsure if theyvare coming.. It does not seem as if Espn would have only asked those three? So do this mean the others said I dont know yet?

Another thing if I were a player and hated lewis no way Im leaving my guts on the floor like they did tonight.. If you were there you could see a gassed wore out team tgat was just fighting.

What a strange development.
In the year I imagined for this team, I'd have expected a late season win. One with Watts, Jihad and Doughty in the rotation. One where we struggled early in the year but finally we were getting it.
You tell me Hendriks was going to be serviceable, too, and I'd say that alternate universe team was going to Cleveland with a chip on its shoulder and a chance to beat somebody...

Man they were gassed at the end but they finally finished. Hendricks played his guts out and so did the rest of the team. Our guards outplayed theirs, we dove like we were possessed for loose balls and we hit some really clutch shots when they came back and took the lead. If we had any quality depth at all we win at least three or four more games this season but that’s life.
IMO, Basheer is gone and if I’m Lewis I have conversations with Bell, Adams and Brown to ask how they want to spend the rest of their college eligibility, playing or sitting? Hopefully for their sake they choose to go somewhere they can compete for minutes because it’s not going to happen here. That gives us four schollies of which two are taken for the commits we have and we hit the portal for some talent. If we can keep Mickey, Anderson and Bailey along with Mason, Middleton, Hendricks and Doughty plus get Britain Watts healthy we may have a team next year to compete but to contend we need a solid frontline athlete and a wing. Time for Lewis to prove he can recruit a championship roster.

Not sure but I think we are eliminated. BG winning puts them out of range of us, and OU winning gives WMU the tiebreaker over us. Could be wrong. Also, EMU beats Akron?! Akron has lost 3 of the last 5 after an 11-1 conf start. Ball State Daily News article says if we beat BG and WMU loses to Akron we get the 8 seed. No idea if that’s true or not. If that’s the case maybe the head to record doesn’t matter? Better overall record is the tie breaker?

I doubt ESPN was polling players about that before a game. Seems more likely they were talking to players and asked about a tough season and how they were reacting, then reporting the comments as a response. Based on press conference Bailey is bought in. As hard as they played in this game, it's a good sign the team has some cohesion While you have to think it's possible the players not playing may think they need to move on, but these guys had to see they had potential for some success, and only Jihad has proved much NIL market.

It was nice to see a win with super effort and smarts for once. I too think we will see Jihad gone. Would love to see Mickey, Anderson, Bailey along with Middleton, Jones, Hendricks and Doughty back. I think it is undeniable that many of these players improved in some areas this season. All have a lot to improve on. IMO Bailey is a pure shooter and Anderson has the skills to become an all-MAC player. The reality of the portal though is that NOTHING IS DEFINITE until August. Coach Lewis has to get some serious athletes if we really want to compete for a MAC championship. That has been a BSU coaching challenge for at least twenty years now. Is Lewis the coach to break through?
On another note, what happened to Kent this season? Not used to watching a bad Kent team, but I enjoyed beating them none the less. Can anybody verify if we are eleminated?

The context about Anderson, Pearson, and Hendriks coming back was in relation to Senior Night. The ESPN broadcast announcers were the former BSU PG, Eha and another guy who obviously have some interactions with the BSU basketball program. They starting talking about the game being Senior Night and how the 3 guys who could have gone through a Senior Night were Anderson, Pearson, and Hendriks and they (the announcers) had heard none were interested in being honored for a Senior Night because all were committed to coming back next season. Guess they could always change their minds later.

This what the Daily News is reporting:
This win keeps Ball State in contention for the No. 8 and final seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament. However, the Cardinals’ fate won’t be decided by just themselves. Not only does Ball State have to defeat Bowling Green (18-12, 9-8 MAC) on the road Friday, March 8, but Western Michigan (11-19, 8-9 MAC) must lose to Akron (21-9, 13-4 MAC) at home that same evening.
If true, this is some kind of hope.....

This one can go deep the list.
