I feel Jehad will stay. Score 20+ points a game. 10 rebounds a game. 3 assist. Three blocks. Three turnovers. All MAC First Team. I’ll take it. The other players need to play as tough as when we played without him at Kent. 20+ wins and competing for the MAC title in 2024/25.

Well, Sherm you clearly are not a historian of Ball State big men. Your theory is holier than swiss cheese, pal. Have you forgotten the long line of Cardinals in the paint who started slow and ended up as elite scorers? Guys like Brian Burns, Dave Broz, Ryan Reed, Tom Howland, Kevin Cates, Mading Thok and...need I continue? These guys blossomed into 6 point per game scorers by the time they graduated. Well, not all of them but that's beside the point. Since when is past performance an indicator of future success? Well those guys scored 15 points a game. I mean if you add their scoring averages together. Or at least if you add their career high games together. 10 ppg is not a wild idea for Jones. Unlikely, in my estimation, but not wild. 15ppg is wild. 8ppg would be nice. 6 or 7ppg might be what to expect. Scoring 20ppg in HS is no guarantee of anything. You can't walk around in Indiana without tripping over an old 20ppg scorer from HS days. There are various ways to score 20ppg in HS that have absolutely no carryover to D1. I did say 10-15 points a game before I guesstimated his averages So I do think he can average 10 with the occasional outburst of 15 ish. I was thinking he could get 5 buckets a game just being a junkyard dog and hit 5 fts for the same reason. It won’t be next year. I think he can get 8 a game next year along with the boards/steals/blocks/assists he’ll be giving us. Whatever his point total is he’s got to become more aggressive and give us something.

On Jihad. Maybe. If we match NIL or come close...He knows what he can do here, a change is never easy. Unlikely though.

Not much more if others step up. And/Or we sign a difference maker to replace Jihad. He's really glue guy, and will get a little better in all ways I think. General is crazy about how common 20 pt scorers are, unless you include those guards at small schools like Mike Lewis. He turned out OK in college without being a scorer, anyway.

When somebody receives something for free, or if they have some way to get their hands on other people's money, it's usually not very long at all before they regard it as their absolute, unquestioned birthright to ALWAYS get it forever and ever. You see this with govt programs all the time. We are seeing the same thing with college sports fans now. Excellent point! Every time I see or hear someone say “I’m done with college sports because players get paid now” I just laugh.

Why?
