In my opinion, that's why we don't actively promote our collective because Foundation and Athletics want the donations for their agenda. Yes. And Given how tolerant they have been of losing in basketball for these many years, it doesn't seem likely that they would suddenly turn and promote basketball's winning interests if there is any chance at all it takes away from their own money flow.

How much was it said that Sparks got from IU? If you bought a starting line up for that amount times five, presumably you would be the prohibitive favorite for a MAC title and a tourney berth.
How much is that?
And for perspective, how does that some compare to the amounts we had to pay in buy outs to get rid of failed coaches under the the idiotically extended guaranteed contracts we willingly gave them? Wasn't that covered by donors?

Jason is more of a football guy and Papa John got woked off campus. Not saying he shouldn't try but if Schnatter showed any inkling of wanting to donate the Foundation wolves would shove Lewis aside and take it themselves. In my opinion, that's why we don't actively promote our collective because Foundation and Athletics want the donations for their agenda. Its going to take an angel with deep pockets and a serious sell job by Mike to make this work. I think he's largely on his own. You are not wrong. I am still making the call. What does Lewis have to lose? He is already fed up with the University. I would be camping outside of Schnatter’s home. What a great way to give the University the middle finger by securing a major NIL gift from John. I would also plead with Jason to help him with a NIL campaign. Raising money for something you love and compassionate about is not difficult. If any one can do it, I would put my money on Lewis. Surely he is aware of Schnatter? Mike has nothing to lose. I just don't know how bad the Papa John's bridge was burned when the U returned his check and rescinded the naming rights. I think Whitlock was trying to heal the rift when they came to a basketball game together but no clue if any money has flowed back since then. Usually donors like Schnatter get lots of grace but rumor was that Letterman threatened to bow out of his relationship if the U didn't kick PJ to the curb.

Well it was rumored sparks got 6 figures so if it were at min 100k x 5 500k yes that number could prob buy you a shot at a championship but we dont have that on a per year basis

I agree that Lewis has nothing to lose by reaching out to any alum support, but why in the hell should a coach have to do the work and not the administration or the CVC? What do these administrators and the CVC DO TO PROMOTE NIL $$? As vague as the rules are it is about time for those folks to have the balls to support their coaches with the NIL monies in order to compete.

Coaches have to promote the NIL. But that means an NIL vehicle and an organized way to collect it, disperse it must be available to promote.
How much time he spends should depend on the bang for the buck for his efforts.
He cannot promote NIL and take the money and disperse it. If the money is very hard to find, we need professionals in finding money to set up the mechanism and give him the target for his efforts. Coaches don't and can't have an assistant coach to handle NIL. He cannot close deals, he cannot make promises how the money will be spent because he cannot have that control.

I think we should all reach out to BSU administration and Lewis/Neu to suggest that we put the full court press using whatever NIL platform we want to be used primarily for football and basketball.
We should seek donations from all alumni with emphasis on the wealthy.
I believe we should all suggest we’re tired of the mediocrity!!

I am a salesperson and I will do it.
I can get 100 donors at $10,000 for $1,000,000 for a 10% commission.

The U can do more to promote a better NIL effort. Heck at least get the Feed the Bird folks to at least update their website

There's an assumption here nobody is working on this.
And an assumption the decision is with the AD. Just a caution here, that contacting big donors without clearing it with President and Foundation is an issue.
BSU is pretty careful with handling requests to wealthy alumni, and with fund raising campaigns.

This is becoming a very sick story about college athletics. I’ll continue following Ball State to some degree, I’ll continue visiting the board and commenting, but my enthusiasm for Ball State sports and colllege sports in general is about a 3 on a scale of 1-10. The ability of a coach to put together a team and win at our level is going to be very difficult. Almost no sense in getting to know the players, the names no longer count. This new normal has ruined college sports in just a few short years. I still say drop scholarships all together. Bring in kids who want to play and earn a degree. I don’t care what level we play at, but stop the madness. Stop the bidding war for coaches and players. Don’t want it, don’t need it. I’m fed up with all the drama. Just want to enjoy the game.

Anyone with serious coin and any connection to BSU is already on someones prospect list. I have it on good authority that if someone's given some they both have and are willing to give more.
