We might know about Zags he might just return home and not enter portal.. I would have guessed brown for sure.. Reported Grade Issues missed games on 2 seperate instances. If he stays Lewis must really see something. Which goes back to my wondering if a player has to be in good academic standing to be in the portal. (Can't imagine that's even cared about anymore. We ain't come here to play school) I really think Brown needs to go the juco route and get himself squared about. He's very talented but very raw. On the other hand what he needs is maturity, and more discipline. On the court, he needs to learn to use his athleticism and play good D. He's not that great on offense, so it might help him there, but JUCO isn't going to help him with defense or discipline...

If he stays Lewis must really see something.Or, he really likes the kid and wants him to succeed. Lewis seemed to come to Brown's defense in that first press conference after the team suspension. Lewis said something like: "there are some things out there floating around social media I want to set straight. This is a team suspension for Brown in order to straighten out some things and nothing else." Now the second time, that was probably the university for grades.

You have to wonder how much this is a game of musical chairs. Some of these guys are surely going to end up lateral transfers, some at other MAC schools.
I haven't been blown away by MAC players moving to other MAC schools. Don't see a lot of these guys I'd spend much NIL to get.

Acuff and Moss are probably the gems of the mac transfers but yea a bunch of laterall movers and yea I agree not much to spend alot on

Add NIU Yanic Konan Niederhäuser Wasn't he one of the Three Amigos? He would have been the 4th one as a cousin to Ned Niederlander.

We'll see how Akron fares in the next few days after their loss settles in.
Along with graduation losses and strength of returning players we'll see where everyone stands.
I'd bet there will be cases like Coleman's up to the end of the portal period, and still some heavy hitters who haven't committed, similar to our situation.
We haven't got to the flurry of signings...
I can't see the MAC coming out of this ahead of the game. A lot of sound and fury to come which gives us something to talk about. That's the only positive. That and we're probably not hit as hard as last year.

Toledo is already crying about losing their team & how everyone was supposed to return. Others like NIU, EMU & WMU now anticipate losing a large portion of their team every year. The MAC will never be the league it was in the 90s & this Akron team actually had a number of 4 yr players/ Srs will not see much of that again either. Lots of fans per their blogs are saying it's not worth investing in following the teams now.

Lots of fans per their blogs are saying it's not worth investing in following the teams now. Was thinking about that while watching games last night--hard to get all that excited about the tournament anymore because you know that every single team you're seeing will have a bunch of different kids next year and every year from here on out, and it's to the point a kid might lead his team on a great tourney run this year, and then play AGAINST that team in the tourney the following year. (and with the total free for all it's become, they could be in yet another program the year after that) Can't really develop an affinity for a team that doesn't have mostly the same players for 3-4 years. You're gonna lose your brightest stars one way or another. Have to relearn the roster every single year. If McCurdy and Kidd were playing today we a: probably wouldn't be able to get them in the first place; and b: they'd give us one year and leave and no cohesion, no chance of creating a magical run exists. And if we get fully invested in kids this year, we may very well be rooting against them next year if they've moved on. They ain't us anymore. Especially if they go to programs we can't stand or within the same league..... I think it's time for the upper echelon to do away with the facade of "college" all together. Guys who bounce around as often as they do now can't possibly be actual students. What kind of progress toward a degree is really happening. Eventually there will be the haves in one division, and, the us's in another division. One will essentially be professional basketball, and any players not good enough for that level can earn scholarships and be expected to go to school at our level. I don't know how else this can play out. Every man for himself!

It would be interesting if in every NCAA broadcast, during the tourney, the announcers would give the NIL amounts the players are receiving right along with their points per game, rebounds per game, assists, and other stats. It would be fun for example to see Oakland's total NIL last night being next to nothing defeating Kentucky with NIL for their roster probably over $1 million. It would also help expose how a #13-16 seed with next to nothing NIL has no chance against a #1-3 seed with NIL's near or over $1 million.

Here's another nugget to chew on. I'll be curious to see which teams "welcome back" their transferees once they decide not to stay in the portal - especially for some more talented players.
With all the guys in play in the portal, I can't see how they all find new homes. As a result, some will want to return to the friendly confines of their original school when they don't get invited elsewhere.

I believe I heard some talking heads discussing the lack of attachment to teams that fans might be feeling because of all the transfers. They speculated that fans who've even tangentially followed the women's game might be more inclined to follow those teams closer this year because they typically haven't had as much roster turnover.
