Checked on the last second loss teams we played this season. 5th seed San Jose State (20-12) plays for the championship against #1 seed San Diego State(25-6) in the Mountain West Championship. The SJ Spartans beat #4 seed Nevada to advance. We lost to them in the Bahamas. As to the Dukes of Duquesne? They were a 6th seed in the Atlantic 10 Tourney and lost to 11th seed Lasalle. The Keith Drambrot Dukes finished 20-11. SJSU-SDSU is a semifinal game.

Interesting differences in relative fan bases at the same school. Football fans would have loved to shell out some extra cash to see a 6-6 team go to a bowl game. Basketball fans have no interest in seeing a 20-12 team play another game. I had a similar thought today. I think they are different situations though. First, if the bowl game were the 30th game of the season it would have a lot less impact. I generally want to watch as much BSU football and basketball as possible, but the law of diminishing marginal utility is real. Second, “bowl season” is more equivalent to march madness. The CBI is literally just a bunch of small time programs that failed having a consolation event. Going to a bowl at least in theory (and that may be going away) has the opportunity to match up against an interesting program that we couldnt otherwise play. The CBI will give us Tennessee Tech or someone else we wouldnt have any trouble scheduling in OOC if we wanted. Third, in this particular instance our team has pretty clearly quit. Injuries, lack of depth catching up to us, whatever the reason, if the players dont want to play then I dont want to watch. Fourth, I dont think cost has anything to do with what people want. I’d like a private jet. If someone said “i’m getting you a private jet whether you think it’s worth what i’m going to pay for it or not.” Then i would accept the private jet even if i recognized it was a stupid expense.

Meet the new coach. Same as the old coach. It is too soon to tell if Lewis will be successful. But I am confident that it's not the same as the old coach.

TV analysts projecting BSU to CBI post season tournament. After that performance I hope not. The guys are clearly done. Let’s just be done.

The past doesn't give us much to go by here. We had a 14 point lead at their place. So we are definitely capable of kicking their asses. But we also blew a 14 point lead against them. So they are definitely capable of kicking our asses.

If we are healthy in Cleveland we have a shot. Dont have the depth to miss even one piece. Sparks is extra banged up now and Coleman is in a boot. Not sure how healthy we’re gonna be. The way Lewis sandbags I’m wondering if Futa is gonna triple double his way through the MAC tourney.

I don't really mind it. We're not going to line up and beat them man to man. We're going to have to think outside the box. I'm not sure if you remember how that went vs. Tennessee. I do. We weren't going to line up and beat them man to man either.

Will we start off the first play, of the first offensive drive, for both the Kentucky and Georgia games with a trick gadget play? I can't wait. I don't really mind it. We're not going to line up and beat them man to man. We're going to have to think outside the box.

Question? Aren’t the first 4 seeds basically settled? And if so, does it make sense to put 3-4 of our players on the floor or go with the bench more so we go into Cleveland full strength? Toledo would clinch the #1 seed with a win. If Kent wins and Toledo loses on Friday I believe Kent will be the 1 seed based on head-to-head tiebreaker. They only played once this year and Kent won. I'm not sure who I'd rather see in the tournament. I kind of wrote off Toledo after we beat them in Toledo, so I'd been hoping Kent and Akron would be together on the other side of the bracket and we could get Toledo in the tournament. Toledo has been beating the tar out of everyone for the past two months though, so no matter where we land we're in for a tough road.

BTW, that Jar Arena or what ever its called is a glorified HS gym. That is totally unfair! There is nothing glorified about it.

Bad results for our trips to northeastern Ohio dont bode well for our future home games against Kent and Akron in the MAC tourney.

My guess next years offense is as follows. 1st down: Run up the middle for 1 yard gain. 2nd down: lateral pass to the sidelines for 2 yard gain. 3rd down: Pass over the middle for 2 yard gain. You may be on to something here. How do you feel about a 20 yard pass on 3rd and 2 and the wr is double covered and the ball goes 5 yards over his head? Only if there is a deep safety surprised to have the ball float into his hands.
