To immediately play after a transfer, a player has to graduate, correct? Otherwise, he'd have to sit out a year. My buddy and I had that same discussion. Do you really think Teague has graduated if that's what it takes to make that move ??

Do you really think Teague has graduated if that's what it takes to make that move ?? He is a redshirt junior , so yeah I would suspect he is going to graduate this spring. If he wasn't on schedule we would getting dinged on the NCAA academic progress report.

To immediately play after a transfer, a player has to graduate, correct? Otherwise, he'd have to sit out a year. Yes, this topic has been discussed on several other threads. Really comes down to this choice for Taj. Do you stay here as the Alpha knowing you're the focal point of the offense and will have the "open bar" green light to chuck to your hearts delight on a team that has a number of ?? marks and a proven track record of mediocrity. OR, do you graduate, throw your name out as a grad transfer and play your last year on a contender, likely a Big Ten team. He has almost 1100 points, nearly 700 rebounds, over 120 steals and is long and athletic. He also has name pedigree. He would be just the kind of kid I'd spend a one-year schollie on at a Big Ten school. So, play out the career in a very iffy sitch as the "Man" or play in the big time your last year in a supporting role but have a real chance to go the Dance with a new partner? There lies the rub. Some may disagree that he would/could play in a larger conference but in a different role, with some REAL coaching and a good strength coach I think he could make it.

This is THE question of the off season, isn't it? Does anyone have a good grasp of how the timing of these things usually plays out? Is there a date beyond which Whitford can breath easy?
We should know on Teague in the next couple of weeks. I think there is also a reasonable possibility Gunn goes elsewhere. I don’t think that will happen. I see him in a bigger role. When getting minutes he played well ( along w Ish) . Defensively he is very below average. That will be an area that he needs to improve big time if he wants to contribute on any level.

Honestly no one.. Ish will become better but not a star. Walton will be the same. Hazen will be the same.. I have heard Acree is pretty good and BUmbalough will at least be fun to watch We are physically and mentally soft. That is never going to change until Whitford is gone. We were thrown around like ragdolls last night. Teague and Moses had 3 rebounds between them. Whenever BG decided to post up, we were always on their back and were too soft to get around. I see nothing in the coming recruits and what we already have that is going to change that. Whitford has no feel for what it takes to have a successful mid major program. He is either too stupid or stubborn to make the necessary changes to turn this sinking ship around. We had one player that had the ingredients of what it takes to play in big games and he is graduating. I am fed up of contributing to the University of my entertainment dollars. Just like the world we live in today, there is no sense of urgency with the BOT or higher ups to improve this shit hole we call an athletic department. Most of us would be fired on the spot for performing this poorly and rightfully so. I just can’t fathom anyone with any competitive spirit would think all is well with Ball State Athletics. Your player with "the ingredients", had four games in Cleveland. The only one he was victorious in was the one he got injured in, played the first nine minutes, was 0-2, and left the game when we were down 6. We somehow won that game. Dumb luck I guess.

Teague will have a chance to leave if he graduates. Question is will he gain from it? De la Rosa from Kent to Illinois did nothing this yr. Wood Valpo to MState played enough he probably gained. Ohio's Simmons to MSU played little yet was All conf in MAC as junior. It is a real question for each individual a different answer.

When getting minutes he was a one-trick pony and couldn't defend or rebound. He has a looong way to go next year unless he works his a** off. Acree, Thomas, Coleman, Mallers, Hazen, Teague and the Manbunigator will all be eating front court minutes. Other than shoot a hip shot from 25, what is his strength?

Also reason German may not return to NIU is he supposed to graduate before next fall & that is a senior team. The further NIU goes less chance he returns assuming he plays well.

The idea that we would have lost a lot more games without Persons is so well founded that it is about as close to a certainty as a hypothetical can be.
