Why are we in big trouble? He's never really produced much. The depth thing, Whitford is using him for about 20 minutes per game thus far. So you're suggesting Huggins can fill those minutes? If so, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you. Ok, from that angle I see your point. He just hasn't been productive in terms of numbers since he's been here - that's all I was getting at. It perfectly illustrates Whitford's roster management issues, though.

If he is out its a decent size loss.. yes I agree he never has done anything big but he his normal Statline generally reads 5 5 3 and maybe a couple blocks.. So he helps a little across the board. More importantly he does not kill you being out there

It really irritated me that Whitford wasn't getting Huggins or Acree some minutes at the end of that game when we were up 20 points. Maybe if Hendricks had been there instead of being back in Muncie with pinkeye, Whitford would have had him on the floor instead of Hazen. Like you said, roster management issues. If you can't get guys like Huggins some experience against a Chicago Circle up 20 points with 2 minutes to go, when are you?

Yeah, maybe, but I think Whitford is just conditioning Huggins, Acree, and maybe even Hendricks to accept the fact they aren't in the rotation and aren't going to play. That is until some sort of mid-February injury and they are forced into the line-up with disastrous results.

Whitford's quotes are always epically annoying

We played great for 40 mins! Complete game! Whit did get a little too personal when he said “we’ll have our way with it.”

I liked that he did his interview the right way. It was a complete interview.

If Huggins and Acree can't play in this blowout why the hell are they on the team?

Apparently, you can just throw the idea of depth out the window.
We've already lost Gunn and if Hazen is out for any length of time, our first three players off the bench are all guards, not to mention all freshmen. And those seem to be the about the only other players worthy in Whitford's eyes of playing against DI competition.
If depth becomes an issue at all this year because of a few injuries, the blame is squarely on Whitford. Thanks to having a non-scholarship, walk-on starter in Thompson, Whitford has 14 players available. No red-shirts or transfers this year.
If he needs Huggie or Hendriks, Acree or Thomas later in the year and they aren't ready, that's the coach's fault. The players are there. If they're not good enough or developed enough, that's on the guy responsible for recruiting and developing them.

A poignant observation from an astute participant on OTP: ”Realization is finally setting in that we are watching last year’s team without Moses, Persons, Gunn and Huggins.....and our only hope is that Whitford hit a recruiting home run with a bunch of guards and tweeners.” Read more: overthepylon.boards.net/thread/2976/game-purple-aces?page=16#ixzz65JJeTDk8
