Peyton Manning will be in charge soon and order will be restored a la The Denver Broncos and Elway. At least that's my hunch. From everything I have read and from the people I've talked to, Manning is only coming back with an ownership stake, and as of yet Irsay has been loathe to give that up. If I'm Manning I come back with two guarantees, 1) An ownership stake of the team, probably around 25% 2) A personal guarantee from Irsay that he'll sit down and shut up and just write the checks Manning tells him to write. Anything short of that and I'm guessing he stays home and continues going to Eli's games and enjoying retirement with his kids.

Pagano is probably getting fired this week. Ballard is not happy.

Total collapse late in that game with all kinds of coaching and playing errors.

Skinny up on the meat toppings and you can turn quite a margin. I'd hire Chuck as a night driver and make him work for tips.

Oh please, no one is going to just hand over 25% ownership, of a billion dollar NFL franchise, to anyone for any reason. You are out of your mind.

That is multi-billion perhaps, although a few hundred million one way or the other seems not to count much with NFL owners...still, Manning or no other GM is probably worth that much money. Irsay would have to be crazier than he has been, perhaps we can't rule that out, or perhaps Manning would value making a mark enough to follow in Elway's path. 10% stake? As a performance option of some kind? Maybe? A lot less money could achieve as much or more with a coaching change. With salary cap I don't discount the good reasons for an owner using the option to throw money at coaching, scouting, and management to win, but I am not sure Manning has that much magic..

I remember, the Broncos ownership once offered Elway a chance to buy a 10% stake. For Manning I could see something like a 3% deferred compensation package if he agreed to work as an "assistant" to the GM. I agree Manning isn't the answer at the moment, a healthy Andrew Luck and new head coach will solve a lot of problems.

I agree Manning isn't the answer at the moment, a healthy Andrew Luck and new head coach will solve a lot of problems. 25% is high, I'll grant you but he's neither hurting for money nor does he appear to be in any rush to get back to football, so again, as I said, if I'm Manning why not make that demand and when Irsay says no then go back to doing whatever it is Manning is doing in retirement. As for "out of your mind" as you put it, if you think Manning is coming back to be "assistant" anything you're out of your mind. I don't see any way he accepts any position south of President of Football Operations (or equivalent), overseeing the GM and the Coach.

Interesting how loud the booing was yesterday when players took a knee during the anthem.

The current mess is revealing something that has been true for a while now, but has been downplayed and mostly overlooked. The typical fan is much more appreciative of being American, than the typical player. It's a racial thing obviously. Without getting into an argument over which side is right, I think it's beyond dispute that there is a new realization of each side's respective feelings.
The NFL owners are, by and large, selling black players to a white audience. This is a disaster for them (the owners). Trump screwed them hard. Eventually it will hit the players in the pocketbook, and the fans will lose something they once enjoyed. It's lose, lose, lose. I guess you could claim the players "raised awareness" of their dissatisfactions. Well, maybe the awareness of a few people who lived in caves and who only knew of the outside world through NFL football broadcasts. Because everyone else already know all about the grievances the players are talking about, and already had access and awareness of all the information they cared to consider about the matter. I think the players are used to being patronized by the media, and will be surprised at the consequences of their actions.
It will be interesting to see what happens as this filters down to college sports....and it will.
