At this point of the season, it is clear that it's better for the Colts to lose. The Jaguars are better than in recent seasons but we are not talking about the '72 Dolphins here. They were missing probably their best player. And when they run up and down the field at will on your defense and...oh, by the way... also shut you out at home, it's time to face the reality that you suck and are going nowhere.
Not that I expect everyone to get on board the hope-to-lose train. During the Suck For Luck season, there were still brain dead Colts fans hoping to win that final game.
Unfortunately, the Colts have wins against SF and Cleveland, who will probably vie for the top pick. However I think there are very good odds the Colts end up in the top 5, where they could get, say for example, a stud linebacker, a vicious edge rusher, or something else that they could really use. Personally, I'm hoping for a top 3 pick, but then I am Mr. Optimistic.

I think most of those fans knew what was going on and just couldn't stand the thought of moving on from Manning. Some of them are probably the ones I've seen suggesting the Colts trade Luck and draft a new QB.

I think the Colts should be well in line for a Top 3 pick, the question then becomes, do you draft at that spot, or try to flip it for multiple picks?

I think the Colts should be well in line for a Top 3 pick, the question then becomes, do you draft at that spot, or try to flip it for multiple picks? Depends on what you do with Luck. If you trade him for a boatload of picks, then you keep your round 1 pick (and add the other from the Luck trade). Of course it depends on who is available: a stud QB (Lamar Jackson?), a game-changing RB like Barkley from Penn State, or trade down and go with a bunch of picks for the O-line. If Luck is traded, Ballard will be like a kid in a candy store.

If Luck doesn't play this year, I wonder if he is going to bring in that boatload of picks, maybe more likely veterans with their own question marks from a middling team without the high picks.

I'm not sure Lamar Jackson will be a high draft pick.

The organization is enough of a clownshow already; trading a player they tanked to get six years ago would only add to it. However, I highly doubt he gets traded.

Luck won't get traded if he's healthy. No way. And a team would have to be willing to take on his contract, would they not? If Luck can still play they ain't starting all over again with a rookie QB.

There is absolutely no reason to trade Luck. People say he's not a top-tier QB or that he's overrated, or whatever, and my response to that is he's never been given anything remotely close to an NFL-caliber offensive line. He's been forced to play behind one of the 5 worst O-lines every year. Give him some protection and who knows what kind of QB he might actually evolve into, but you have to give him that opportunity.
I don't know what this year's draft talent looks like, but if it is stocked with O-line talent, I might consider trading that top-3 pick (assuming they get it) for draft picks and make a real effort to shore up the front 5. That being said, if a Saquon Barkley is sitting there when the Colts draft...that'd be a difficult player to pass up on. He seems like a game-changing kind of a back.

I'm not sure Lamar Jackson will be a high draft pick. And if you listen to some prognosticators, he doesn't project as a QB in the NFL.

Assuming we get a top 3 or so pick. I hope for either a monster defensive playmaker, or a mega-lucrative trade with a QB starved team.
It's really a shame we beat SF.

I'm going to call any and every game the Colts win this year a shame.

While we're discussing the draft...where does everyone project WMU's tackle Okorafor going? I've seen (way too early) mock drafts that have him as high as #2 or 3
