Not defending Walker but eye witnesses are amazingly inaccurate sometimes.

The victim gave a statement to police that Walker bashed her head on the ground. The witness corroborated that.

Probably everyone has the same reaction, but...I also suspect the reaction is there to give a friend or a team mate or the star athlete at your school a break in many things, that is also built into our informal social standards, too. And can be wrong.
My point is you can't run a court system or a schools system without a formal procedure.
Both our instincts, native, inborn or cultural, AND our formal systems are going to have a hard time with tough cases. The procedures will produce contrary results sometimes just as out gut instincts may. It can be as you say wrong but it is what it is...
I'll support the process, and not make any big bets on the outcome either way, although odds are he is gone. Hope the right thing is done, but without perfect knowledge, I doubt that part is entirely clear. Thinking of the real problem, fact is no outcome helps this victim. Thinking of the rest of our university community, nobody can be happy this kind of thing ever happens, but purely a punitive response is not really very effective to prevent it either. The criticism goes both ways, that students accused are treated unfairly, and that victims are treated very poorly.
Questions have to be asked before making an example of Walker.

Probably no reason to make an example of Walker. Just follow precedence set (I'm assuming other BSU students have faced similar charges).
Of course, I guess that precedence could now be viewed as inadequate given our current social/political climate.

Right or wrong this is not John smith sophomore who can blend back into 18,000 students. Walker like it or not is a face of our school not sure how you can bring him back without facing some sort of backlash. With todays social media it only takes one person to start tweeting and retweeting and soon the black eye becomes a national story.. Remember when someone dug through Damon Singletons tweets a few years and found one tweet where he called his best friend a fag. Next thing you know this non important tweet is national news. Imagine a real issue with formal domestic battery charges against a player and that player is allowed back.. Just not going to be a good look

If you are a man you can not touch a woman. Just walk away and stay out of jail today. The police will arrest you and let a judge and jury work it out. The authorities do not care what she did, just get out and stay away.

The authorities do not care what she did, just get out and stay away. That would not be my observation about domestic violence cases. Hit, run, deny is what happens. Too often, nothing else at all. No charges or failed charges, plea to significantly reduced charges, no arrest even, all more common than ever seeing a trial...much less jail time.

Im going to guess you are right and he likely gets some sort of probation and nothing more happens.. The question is still the same does the school allow him back? Is it worth the backlash? It would be forgotten by most by next year. Only ones that would remember our staff and us do we care?

The other thing that happens then is the precedent that is set for our basketball program. Listen you can flunk out, smoke some weed and beat your girlfriend but we are going to give you another chance..Well maybe even two or three chances.. Is that what we want?

You can believe what you want but if you hit a woman you are in the fight of your life, not with the woman but with the authorities...and you better hope it is not with a female judge. That is not to accuse female judges of being biased, I am just sayin'...

Rob, You already see the effects of not having a high standard for behavior in place. Guys mouth off to fans and refs with no consequences, guys get 4 chances, guys play like crap and don’t care with no consequences, etc.

However Whitford will because he is a Sean Miller acolyte.
