We have our boy Whit next year for sure. One More Year! I still think Whitford will be at BSU for 2 more years. Can't see the university buying out 2 years of Whitford's contract. One year, not a problem as he will not be able to recruit with only 1 year left, but I think buying-out 2 years at the end of next season will be cost prohibitive for the university.

It's this "constrained by reality" type thinking that's dragging us down. I think we should not only buy out the two years, we should pay him for four years. Just so people know we're serious.

Definitely. And we should give him a raise and increase the size of the buyout just before we buy him out. THAT'S how we move our program to the next level.

You have crushed me. I totally forgot about Sandy giving Whitford a SECOND extension on his way out the door. Sandy got slow-played on the alleged Duquesne interview and our coach is under contact until 2022! That means we only owe him $978,000 if he left at season's end. ONLY. Damn. I agree, we are stuck until 2021 at best. Of course, we did increase his base by $10K every year which is now clearly not enough. We should have bumped him at least $100K per year so we can be much more competitive on our next hire and the buyout can be even more unreachable.

You can come up with some really disastrous ideas when you combine a tolerance for failure with a compulsion to spend money.

We think like the government the more we spend the more we can get. But we don't even print it. Maybe we should pay staff in card bucks.

2 more years???
Which means I will continue to not waste my time following Ball State basketball. I'm fed up with watching and following undisciplined, lazy, and incompetent teams perform like this due to a piss poor coach. He does not teach defense, rebounding, ball security, team play, or hustle. The fact our administration does not understand what a good basketball team (and sports program) does for a university, including exposure for more quality student enrollment, is a joke.
This team was way too talented to end with this half assed record overall and in the MAC.
I am over North America for business, and when I travel and tell people where I went to school, they say they have heard of it because of basketball. Really?? Those days are fading fast under this dipshit.

Those days are fading fast under this dipshit. The people you deal with must be over 35 at least, be very sports oriented, and have a good memory. Generally speaking, the momentum we had in the 90's has long since been buried under multiple layers and years of bad decision-making, swamped by repeated instances of bar-lowering and mediocrity accpetance, and forgotten.

Yes but not all...it shocks me when they reference basketball for knowing Ball State now due to what has transpired for the last several years. It just shows you how quality sports programs carry weight and exposure even after so many years of feeble incompetence. I'm talking about multiple west coasters making this reference. Wake up administration, before we fall into oblivion. NOW!
