Cute, but likely incorrect

If Teague is not a 100% Whit may not want to lose part of his first full year...just because he's practicing does not mean he's a 100%. It may be better for both the team and Teague to preserve this year if the aforementioned is correct. He could practice like Weber and Persons and be much stronger next year!! If he wasn't 100% healthy why would he have even been practicing up to this point? He was hurt before the Bahamas trip. That's plenty of time to recover from even some pretty serious injuries. Unless he's suffered another injury since then, likely possibly an ACL or an achilles tear. But then he wouldn't be practicing with one of those. Hard to believe he'll redshirt him for some nagging ankle tweak or some tight hammies.

You don't red shirt a four star player.

This team doesn't have enough overall depth this year to redshirt anyone. This is a career make of break year for Whitford, there is no way he is going to redshirt anyone who might contribute in even the smallest way.

It's too bad we don't have an exhibition game. Exhibition games play a crucial role for basketball fan forums in giving us a single data point to freak out over by either becoming wildly optimistic or wildly pessimistic on certain subjects. Since exhibition games are usually played against weak competition, things usually tend towards the wildly optimistic end of the spectrum. But we do have the box score from that one Bahamas game, so we'll have to use that as a substitute. link I can't find a box score for the other game, but that seemed to be a fairly silly opponent and we cleared the bench. Some video highlights at the BSU website suggest they basically stood around and watched while we shot lay-ups. So let's freak out about the first game: ***Tyler came out strong and scored 19 points. I'm very pleased and, to be honest, somewhat surprised that he is even still on the team. It seems he's ready to build on the promise he showed early last year Freak out factor: +8 ***Weber and Sellers were a combined 6-18. Oh well. both these guys have shown they are good shooters at the D1 level. Freak out factor: 0 ***Calhoun scored one point. This is a little more concerning because he is more of a wild card. His scoring came on at the end of the year includeing one monster game against (I think) Toledo. Outside of maybe Teague, he is our best hope for a true low post scoring threat. Freak out factor: -3 ***Nate Wells 7 pts 5 rbs in 20 min. If he can have solid production like this in the MAC, that would help. Freak out factor: +3 ***Smith took zero shots in 16 min. This is concerning, and is reinforced by his JUCO record. His defender may be roaming loose around our offense clogging things up all year long, since he may be our point guard by default. On the plus side, he had 4 assist to one TO - I don't know if Turner managed that feat all last year. But is it too much to ask for a point guard who can competently handle the ball AND shot a little? Unlike good quality post players, this is not that hard for a MAC coach to recruit. Freak out factor: -8 ***Moses 3 minutes playing time. Reinforces my lack of expectations. Freak out factor: -4 ***Davis 2-9 shooting. More of the same. Freak out factor -5 ***House 10 pts 8 rbds. Pretty much what I would expect from a solid player against a non-imposing opponent. Freak out factor: +1

Good post General, like the careful qualification and the Freak Out factors!
Wells may occasionally post, but I don't think we are playing a post type offense. House is closest to a true low post scoring threat. Bo may occasionally post up. It may be rare Teague is low post player, he is not very strong establishing position, more likely to score on the move in the lane. However, both Bo and Teague will score near the basket, just not by posting up. Any of our players could occasionally be in the post depending on match ups, and on our outside shooting being good enough to keep the lane open.
Smith is reportedly playing well in practice, but you are right he is more a key for his defense, and he and Davis will not be taking outside shots except wide open, but will score some driving to the bucket against smaller guards. I think with the ball in their hands, the opponent will not be able to ignore them and they don't have to be great shooters to hit open shots. I hope that will be OK. Big plus if they just handle the ball well and not make wild passes in the lane like Turner when they drive. Unlike Turner both will be able to shoot over somebody, too.

www.foxsportspulse.com/comp_info.cgi?a=ROUND&round=1&client=1-8728-0-371488-0&pool=1Lets look at the Stats from both games...remember, when you view the stats its the average of two games...several players played most of one game and very little in the other. Moses played only about two minutes in game one but a majority in game two....he was 6-10 in game two from the floor and 3-5 FT's. Wells played mainly in game one and was 3-4 from the floor and 1-4 from the line. Moses was the leading scorer in game 2!!! And, House played in both games and went 8-15 from the floor!!!! Who says we can score inside??? And, the only big that struggled was Calhoun who was 4-13...I'm not worried about Bo...he will get his points!!! Gil showed a spark as well with 4-7 from the field. With are outside shooting, these guys may get a lot of easy ones inside. We will get plenty of points from mainly the #3 spot from Sellers and Weber, but we may sometimes see Weber at the #2 in for Tyler and Sellers at the #3. I will also note as a team we were 31-42 from the free-throw line which is about 75% as a team...not to shabby!!! Who else wants to wager!!!!

The teams we played weren't remotely competitive.

And, we blew them out!!! And, by the way, some of those teams we played won in the Bahamas against other D-1 teams. So, I'm not buying that they were not remotely competitive.
For the record, we beat the CTG Knights by 21...Georgia Tech beat them by 8 {pretty competitive } Youngstown State lost to the Knights by 3, and West Virginia beat them by 20...looks like our comparisons to others fairs pretty well???!!!!
Remotely???
