Pittman probably would have been a nice addition when TY was about 26

And they’ve added rb Taylor from Wisconsin. Runs. 4.39. They must have different future plans for Mack. They have insurance now for when he gets hurt again. At any rate they’re adding weapons. They have 3 good backs. They did add a FB of all things in free agency I remember, more evidence they are serious about running the ball.
None are great at pass blocking but it looks like the will rely on play action and getting the ball out quickly. Taylor is big enough to block but apparently not much practice when he ran the ball for 2000 yards every year....

Pittman probably would have been a nice addition when TY was about 26 They also have the 2nd round draft choice who was injured last year. All the backs are pretty quick, and now they have a big WR.

I don't see anyone forecasting either Pittman or Campbell as a #1wr. Hilton is in his 30s and picking up injuries. Not have nf a #1wr is devastating for your offense. Also your left tackle damn near retired.
The colts are in serious need at the 3 most important offensive positions
Spending your top draft capital on interior lineman will have consequences down the road
I'm not impressed with Malik hooker and interior line to show for all your first round picks in three years. It's about impossible to get qbs 1 WRs and left tackles on the cheap

And they’ve added rb Taylor from Wisconsin. Reading more about this guy and the reaction, it is a surprise. The comments all say the Colts have to think he is potentially special.
Among other things they say:
He is undeniably a playmaker, and could have more immediate impact than the other players available.
It leverages the strength of the OL. Great fit on that count.
They stepped up and screwed Jacksonville who needed a RB to replace Fournette.
They avoid having paying Mack big money next year.
Most other choices would have been depth, at OL or CB or S. They might have believed they can get enough in those areas later.

I love the Colts draft so far. Not sure about the safety from Utah, but I love every other pick.

The safety from Utah is essentially for 2021.

I'm really hoping the play action game can take off this season with Mack/Taylor and a competent QB who isn't afraid to push the ball downfield.

Looks like the Colts are moving away from the Marvin Harrison/TY Hilton, short WRs and drafted two pretty tall WRs.
Does Philip Rivers prefer a tall target? Or is Ebron's success pointing towards WRs that can go high for their passes?

The press reports are that they have wanted a big receiver opposite TY for some time, and Ebron more or less proved the reason for it.

TY is in his 30's and has missed significant game time each of the last two seasons. Does it make sense to you to be drafting a COMPLIMENT for him at this point? They need his REPLACEMENT. QB and LT will be competing needs for their highest draft capital in coming years. THIS was the perfect year to secure that #1 WR.

Having a good complementary receiver this year takes a lot of pressure off TY, may let him see some single coverage on downs where we are not expected to go deep.
This guy may be a goto guy in the future and we will replace TY as a speed deep threat. TY was a 3rd round pick. If we can get a few years from him on the next contract we have time to find a good receiver.

Sure. You hope Hilton gets injured less as he gets older, and you hope the 8th WR chosen in the draft becomes a quality #1. And you hope your aging left tackle doesn't retire, and of course you still need a QB. I'm sure all that will work out....somehow. Meanwhile, keep investing your best draft capital on interior linemen..
sounds like a plan!
