Looks like NBA attendance rose steadily from the 60's to about 1998 at which point it became flat...or steady depending on how you want to look at it. I believe the NBA has its hopes for future growth pinned to the overseas markets, especially China. Which is why brave, outspoken social justice warriors like LeBron James and Adam Silver have their lips wrapped around the man parts of the Chinese Govt.

China, Europe are both targets.
A franchise and membership in the monopoly is worth a lot.
The NBA owners sell the franchise rights to new owners and split the profits every time they add a credible team to the league.

I have been a fan of the Pacers for as long as I can remember, but after extending Nate, that's becoming more of a stretch.
The organization proves time and time again that it's not only comfortable with, but seeks out 45 wins and a first round exit as a "successful" season, and it gets harder and harder to justify rooting for mediocrity.
They've put together a team that, with even semi-competent leadership, should be a top 4 team in the East next year and challenge for the ECF, but Nate will have them hovering around the 5 with shitty rotations, terrible play calls, lack of effort or desire, and the Pacers will see another "star" player force their way out of town.
Lather, rinse, and repeat.

Most of us are no longer in the target demographic. I too loved the Magic, Bird renaissance and even the San Antonio teams with Robinson and then Duncan. Today, it’s a player controlled league of artificially built super teams run by an organization that now fashions themselves as woke social justice warriors led by the players and empowered by Silver. The only audience the league cares about is the social media mob and the BLM narrative. Their selective outrage aimed at the imaginary blue enemy in the USA fits very neatly in front of their bowing to communist China and their systemic brutalizations and subjugation of their people. I could care less about the NBA, Lebron and that idiot Poppovich. They don’t seem to be very woke about executions, mass incarcerations and Genocide by their corporate partner in Asia.

It's odd that the NBA would rather cultivate fans on the other side of the planet, instead of toning down their politics and appeal to white men over 35.
Maybe that's the marketing plan: complain about the "injustices" of the US to make the league more appealing to the Chinese government.

I recorded all the pacers games but basically didn’t watch any. I probably would have watched if I had more time.

The NBA is a business. Never forget it. That's what turned me off. They want Boston or New York versus the Lakers or Warriors every year.
Anybody remember game 6 of the finals when Dale Davis had the clean block with time expiring and they called the foul at LA? They didn't want LA to burn itself down if the Pacers won.
That's why I respect those Spurs teams so much. Small market team and championships. Even though Pop is a far left liberal dick.
What is up with the current Pacers? Ex season ticket holder here. 4th quarter stagnant offensive movement and chuck a three... Miss... just like last year. I have a flag that I want to display during the playoffs but I made the decision to not represent until they won a playoff game....years ago.
Still waiting...

So my morning drive tells me the playoffs are happening. Has anyone here watched any of it? Not one second here When the Pacers get swept for the 3rd time in 4 years because they hired (then extended) a coach who had won ONE playoff series in his 16 years of head coaching experience, and the Pacers only held a 4th quarter lead for 11 seconds in the entire series, not much reason to watch.
