So BSU plays Toledo Thursday at 11:00 am. How quickly does Shitbird get canned ? My guess is we know Friday around noon.

Yeah, but firing him makes far more sense than bringing him back on a one year deal or giving him an extension. It's really the most likely of the three choices.

Here is a name for you all: Scott Heady who is currently coaching Marian of Indy. The guy can flat out coach and is well respected in this State and the Midwest. Scott is brilliant and would be the best bench coach we have had since Majerus/Hunsaker. I think he could recruit as well. He is older as I believe he is 56 but the dude is a great coach.

I agree he's a really good coach. And now, he's in a place now where coaching still really counts.
I am not so sure that you can make that difference with coaching without the recruiting part which would be a gamble with an older coach, and no track record going after the players you need in the MAC.
He can recruit now for coach-able players who fit his style of play. In the MAC he has to deal with a different player, who may not want to be coached and taught.

Yeah because if there are two things Whitford has excelled at they are talent evaluation and charismatic salesmanship. Whit's four year recruits are f'ing lousy.

Transfers do count as recruits...
Those players, along with others like Teague, Moses, Mallers, Sellers, Tyler all had talent, and deserve better than "lousy" from you.
But, my point was the guy we are talking about would have a significant question mark.

He was the HC at Carmel HS, which BTW is bigger than some college’s enrollment, and won a state title in division 4! He was great at that level.

Roll the dice and get a young aggressive coach!

Recruiting at Carmel was easier than recruiting at Ball State. They have better facilities.
That said, I'm not sure it would be very difficult to surpass Whitford's energy and dynamic personality in recruiting circles.
In general I'm for a younger choice, but maybe Heady is the second coming of Bo Ryan. I'd take that too.

He played HS ball at Shenandoah south of Muncie. Lead them to the Final Four back in 1981 when it was still single class. His dad Bob was a Ball State Cardinal back in the 60's.
