Oates won't leave unless they really pay well. No young guy who's top notch will. Risky job.
IU can pay whatever they want.
But the coach better walk on water.

Porter Moser is the guy I'd be looking at over Woodson, Matta or Oates.

Thought I would share some of these classic Peegs posts after Brad Stevens told them no:
"I'm going to enjoy it when he gets fired." "He'll wind up in some NBA front office. He's a grifter." "He lacks character." "We’ll see how much he’s laughing when he gets fired and ends up coaching in Oklahoma City or Orlando." "BS is overrated.... stepped into a good situation at Butler and a lucky as phuq 2 year run, and he and his DPU sorority lawyer wife (whois a lot smarter and more conniving than he is..... which says a lot) used it to wipe the hick Indiana dust from their feet and moved on to an NBA career, where they are angling for him to get a front office gig somewhere and live the life of Riley. I never wanted him anywhere near IU, and am happy IU dodged that bullet. He used IU to get more money. Period. He will never coach anywhere in college, bc he knows he will be exposed as a mediocre (at best) college coach. He would have been a disaster hire, and he knows it."
I hope IU winds-up with their tenth choice.

IU is suddenly competing against both Oklahoma and Texas to fill their vacancy. I could see Beard at Texas ............

IU isn't the job it used to be. It's lost a lot of its luster, but the right coach could put the shine back on it pretty quick.
They're not gonna get the premium coach, they're going to have to get one from a lower level with a good track record.
I'd definitely make a great offer to Porter Moser.

Now that Marquette is off the board Moser might listen.

I like Moser a lot, but I don't think he is great fit for IU. I think he would be way more successful in the Big East.

Big East much better fit based on the communities, the fans, institutional culture, and the basketball, too. IU would pay better.

Looks like Indiana contacted Chris Holtmann to gauge his interest. Surprise, he isn't leaving Ohio State. Something tells me this search isn't going well.

Now that Marquette is off the board Moser might listen. Shaka Smart did reasonably well in a dangerous B12 this year but Texas is almost as bad a job as IU. Not exactly sure why he didn't do a little better in his time there. I can't see Marquette as that good a job, but they got a good coach.

Kinda think he is being thrown under the bus so they can hire Miller. Funny the school who hung on to Bob Huggins is suddenly so concerned about a coaches behavior.
