Brannen was successful at NKU. Not positive but I think Mearns hired him at NKU. That might be correct.

A parent of a UC player talked to FOX19 NOW on Friday about the allegations.
“He doesn’t let the parents be involved in the program at all. With this COVID stuff, it went crazy. Other parents I’ve talked to from this year and years before, that turned them off big time. That was a problem he had at NKU, too.
“These kids didn’t leave for nothing. We’re looking at it like, ‘these are new age kids and they don’t want to wait their turn.’ That’s not how it is. It’s 50-50. People perceive it that John is doing nothing wrong. That’s not reality. These kids came here for a reason. They also left for a reason.”
It's always dangerous to evaluate a situation from a single article, but based on the above, I would definitely take the coach's side here.

This is an extension of the reality of AAU basketball and it is what we are going to see more and more of as players can use the transfer rule.
The reasons they go someplace and that they leave is the same. Yes. Pursuit of a promised land where the player meets what is very likely inflated expectations. Those parents know best, the player knows best. Stupid coaches.
Pushing players and then playing the ones that come out of that struggle on top? Nobody told me I wouldn't be that top player when I was recruited. The right coaching style is play me, let me showcase my game. That work in practice is silly. The lights aren't on.

If the parents can’t run the program then it’s just no good......

Well I was way off, according to Jon Rothstein, Miller will be named the new head coach at Texas. I am speechless............
Of course this is the same guy who reported Whitford had been hired by Duquesne. So ..................
Edit: This may be bogus.

IU apparently is hiring Mike Woodson as head coach and Thad Matta as Associate AD for Men's Basketball.
Possibly Dane Fife as Associate Head Coach...............
Remember when some people argued there wouldn't be many coaching changes because of Covid.

On a side note IU wanted Chris Holtmann..on Holtmanns wiki page, it states that he graduated from Ball State with a masters degree in athletic administration in 2000.

Wonder if Holtman ever applied for the bsu job over the last 20 years.

I'd completely forgotten Holtmann is a BSU grad, I think he was an assistant at Taylor at the time.

Bringing in a guy who's never even been an assistant at the college level, never recruited, never done any of the things necessary for a college head coach like fund raising, and who is a failed NBA coach with a bus .500 record seems exactly like the kind of hire IU would make.

Can't imagine the fan base is thrilled with this hire.
And with hiring Matta as an assistant AD, why didn't they just make Matta the head coach? Unless he really, REALLY didn't want the job...

After watching the IU press conference I really like Mike Woodson and I can completely understand why he wanted someone to act as a liaison between himself and AD Scott Dolson. Dolson is a guy who will say whatever he thinks he is supposed to say and won't utter a word of his genuine thoughts.
