They seem to think CUSA will pillage the Sun Belt, but I don't see that as a step up. If CUSA disbands, the MAC should look at Marshall, WKU, Old Dominion and MTSU. LouTech, UTEP to Mountain West, and FIU and So Miss to Sun Belt. Overall - I mostly agree - but would consider App State in lieu of ODU to round out the 16 teams

I doubt App State leaves the Sun Belt for the MAC.
The Sun Belt media rights deal pays out about 500K per year to each school, while the MAC deal pays 830K to each school in each of the last 10 years of their 13 year deal (I think we're in year 7 or 8).
If the MAC expands without renegotiating, the payout gets watered down, unless the new schools forgo payment until the next deal (not likely), or they can delay joining until the new deal.
Media rights are what drives the bus.

It seems like most think the Mac will expand early names Marshall App State I'll State.. I can't see Marshall and App state joining but what do I know Marshall has been in the MAC twice, used the conference to grow their program, then left both times. Why would they come back? Why would the MAC want them? AAC is looking for AFA, Boise State and other MWC to expand their footprint

I can't see Marshall and App state joining but what do I know Maybe we could swap with IL State, they could join the MAC and we could go to the MO Valley. ...and go Independent in football?! I assume you're being facetious. Otherwise, paging General Sherman.

Didja ever notice...
MAC schools (even the ones with $ and credentials in the coffers) are NEVER mentioned in the conference shuffles?
Either they've stated ironclad commitments to the MAC, or the league is even more irrelevant than us cynical jerks thought.

We’re all pretty similar schools in a very tight footprint. I hope the MAC can just keep doing its thing.

The league has some problems, both self-perceived and real; but I agree with your first comments.

AAC is looking for AFA, Boise State and other MWC to expand their footprint That rumor is so two weeks ago. Not at all. AAC is still pursuing them. The PAC-12 hasn't come calling or extended an offer, so the dialog continues.

Boise, SDSU, Air Force, and CSU have turned them down. Boise and SDSU are holding out for a future PAC12 or Big 12 invite, and the others didn't want to jump from a stable conference to an unstable one.
