Expected to miss the rest of pre-season, additional time if it requires surgery.

How long before the Bears cut Foles and the Colts pick him up?

How long before the Bears cut Foles and the Colts pick him up? ALL the starting QB options for the Colts are terrible at this time. As is the reality that Wentz will have to jump into an already rolling NFL season with very limited preparation.

Wentz been working out for months, was in very controlled camp setting, sounds like freak accident, unrelated to other injuries he has had.
Not like Andrew Luck, where the Colts put him in mortal danger for several years.

Luck brought the vast majority of his "mortal danger" on himself. Curtis Painter, Dan Orlovsky and Jacoby Brissett survived just fine behind basically the same line.

The QBs survived, but the team had little in the way of a passing attack, and offense, with limited winning chances with those 3. Luck provided chances to win. If he could survive...Have to at least partially blame the coach and offense where they played for more vertical passing offense.

Look at it this way, if the injury is longer than expected the Colts keep their first round pick next year! While we get to see Eason Season!

Starting QB options for however long Wentz is out:
*Eason: Was not all that good in college. Lasted to pick 122 for a reason. Zero NFL experience. Barring a surprisingly good performance in camp...starting now...I don't think the Colts can plan to start him and expect even mediocrity.
*Currently available unattached QB: Any QB in this category is there for a reason or reasons.
*Trade for QB currently on somebody's roster: What value of resources do you give up for a band aid?
That's a comprehensive list...right? No good options there.
Another nice thought: I don't believe Wentz has previously had a foot issue, but he has missed significant time for other injuries. I have seen it shown that there is a positive correlation between a past history of injuries and future liklihood of injury...even if not directly related. How realistic is it for the Colts to expect Wentz to play full seasons going forward?
