Seems to me that, by far, the best choice for a band aid is obvious: Philip Rivers. Can't the Colts just shovel whatever money is left under the salary cap this year towards him to lure him back?

Rich Eisen agrees. Hard to know if he's in shape and he's another year older.
Others say trade for Foles or Garrappola.

Guessing they’re waiting till Chicago waves Foles. Garrapalo is out of range and I don’t think they want to invest heavily if Wentz returns by the first couple 3 of weeks of the season.

Might take a trade to get Foles. If the Bears are willing to let him go, they'd surely take a draft pick in trade. That is not so expensive a trade if Wentz misses enough games they keep their first round pick next year.

Would the Bears waive Foles if it's apparent the Colts are waiting to make him their starting QB? Surely they're not that stupid and would instead force the Colts to overpay for Foles. As I said, Rivers is by far the best option....unless he just absolutely positively refuses to play, and the colts should do whatever they can to make that difficult for him. there is NOTHING they could possibly spend money on that would be more useful than a decent starting QB.

Wish I was sure Rivers had more in the tank after powering down for retirement. At best he is a game manager anyway. The UT rookie might be as good in that role.
Plan A, hoping this strong arm rookie is a miracle is really a slim chance.
Any other scenario probably a late camp solution, adding somebody late August.
This train wreck will drag on into a season where a good Colts D and a poor offense can't handle a tough opening schedule. Holding the team together is going to be hard. Without a surprise of some kind a wasted season.

No, they won't waive him if they don't have to. It will cost the bears more to waive him than trade him so they currently don't have much incentive to just cut him. Colts will probably be a .500 team even with a healthy wentz.

Quenton Nelson out 5-12 weeks after similar foot surgery as Carson Wentz.
At this point, fuck it play Eason. If we lose we get a high draft pick, if we win then maybe Eason is the future at QB.

When it rains...
Does give BSU grad a chance to play more. Left side of line is a wreck for weeks.
In the mean time I agree, no need bringing in Rivers who would likely get killed, use somebody who is more fit and can run for their life.
I guess it could mean a hell of a comeback when LT, LG and QB all return to action for last half of the season, and suddenly the running plays start working.

Except....you don't win by running.
