Baker Mayfield may be getting traded. Probably about the same level as Garoppolo.
It looks like the Colts will be making a push to draft a QB early, and the way it's shaking out, they may be able to get a decent one. If Howell or Ridder fall into the second round, they might move to get him.
I really liked how Carson Strong from Nevada looked at the combine. Cannon for an arm, with good accuracy on the long ball. Definitely a pocket-passer type, though, so the RPO fad won't apply to him. Definitely worth a look.

Mayfield = Wentz 2.0
Once hyped QB that has delivered mediocrity for several years in a row. Colts could probably find a guy like this to trade their 1st round pick for pretty much every year.

A little worse in one way. A one year contracf. No trade value at all after a year. Better since no way he costs ever a first round pick. But then you would have endorsed either, or Winston, or Marriota instead of Nelson in their draft year at #6. All top draft choices... What's your choice now? Got a Sherman Plan for the Colts future?

Since the league became so pass heavy and the QB position became overwhelming important, how have teams escaped QB purgatory in the past to become super bowl caliber teams? Surely some have. Study this and pursue one or more plausible paths as indicated.
I'm serious about using multiple picks for QB's in the draft. Nothing else is remotely as critical of a need. Why not maximize your chances to get lucky?

And the Colts just picked up Ryan.
WTF?
Looking at the particulars, the Colts made out like bandits this offseason. They dumped Wentz and got way more than they should have, then get Ryan for a third round pick, with Atlanta eating most of his salary.
If they get 2 years out of him, it looks like a net win.

Even one year, and a transition the next to a rookie.
They just traded Wentz for Ryan, improved their draft pick. About as good as they could do.
Can draft a gamble at QB this year if they want or fill other needs.
Better find a replacement for their linemen who left.

Wow. A much better result than I expected. Of course, I am judging from the beggars-can't-be-choosers perspective of a colts fan...but still.
But, doesn't make the colts much of a super bowl contender in the overwhelmingly stacked AFC, outside of a miracle playoff run type scenario (e.g. the Bengals)

Matt Ryan looks strangely like a mannikin.
