He apparently has to be on the *ACTIVE* roster by week 6 in order for this season to count toward his contract Wonder how physically ready to play he is? And I wonder what he and his agent are talking about now? It does not look like that genius had anything lined up and the ball is back in his court without having obviously improved his bargaining position. It might be RB money is a little better overall, but only if you're a free agent with no injury concerns.

I don't think he realizes how much leeway the Colts are giving him. They've been playing along with his "injury" claim by letting him stay on the PUP list. They'll activate him week 6, so that he is able to have 5 weeks of not getting tackled, which will leave him fresher for the rest of the season. They know Richardson is going to need time, so they don't plan on winning early anyway. And if somehow they do win 3 of the first 5, Taylor's leverage goes down even more.
He's shooting himself in the foot by not accumulating stats for 5 weeks. He'll seem injury-prone, so nobody will give up what the Colts want in a trade. He won't be a 1000 yard rusher, which is a benchmark.
He is not improving his situation at all. So what's his plan?

You mean the magic of Malki Kawa didn't work?

The Colts now have just THREE wide receivers on the roster Several on practice squad. Likely to be adding somebody as rosters are juggled in first month. Could be part of a deal with Taylor.

Colts apparently asked the dolphins for waddle in exchange for Taylor
Yeah right
They should try for that Patrick McHolmes guy from KC. He’s supposed to be pretty good

Colts have also been in contact with Green Bay. Colts have asked for the 2011 version of Aaron Rodgers in exchange for Taylor.

I've seen some comment along the lines of "Well you paid Nelson and Leonard the biggest contracts in the league at their positions, why will you not pay Taylor?' The logic apparently being that if you make mistakes A and B, you are obligated to make similar mistake C. I wonder if Steichen is the new element of sanity in the equation. Maybe he told Ballard/Irsay he was not interested in a roster with the highest-paid player at every low-value position in the NFL? He doesn't spend like most. He has spent more on backup QB and on kicker than most GMs but that isn't looking too bad. Minshew and Gay earned their money against the Ravens today. Granted it took a missed call and Ravens being shorthanded. Still a win.

Minshew, Gay, a good defense, and that guy Moss looked competitive today.
Not a great passing game but pretty good...

He did match up with the #1 draft pick, did just enough to win the game. Colts defense won today, but Colts scoring in top half of the league, so...a good move by the GM to sign him.
