Don't sleep on IU-K. I hear Bob's Country Bunker is putting some financial NIL muscle behind that program. Adding them would beef up this schedule.

When was the last time BSU played Earlham in basketball? Lewis is bringing in some new opponents to Worthen Arena. Cards shouldn’t have any problem beating the Quakers in the season opener in front of a huge crowd.

BSU last played Earlham on February 26, 1964, about the same time the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. BSU leads the series 30-10.

Cards shouldn’t have any problem beating the Quakers in the season opener in front of a huge crowd. There were seasons, long ago, where we played every year St. Joe, Valpo, Depauw, Wabash, ISU, Evansville and Butler in the ICC. Don't think Earlham was in the conference, and IUSB didn't exist.
As much as I like history, 2 D3 and an NAIA team on our schedule is not pleasant, and a surprise, hope somebody asks Coach and AD what led to this. Scheduling is hard, but something has gone wrong here.
We did need an early game to open the season and an I don't gripe about an exhibition or a weak opponent in October early November. But two D3 teams to open at home? IUSB on November 19 looks like a date we needed to fill for the home season ticket and maybe to avoid a long layoff before we went to the Bahamas, but whatever the reason, as a season ticket, this schedule is a dud.

Lewis is bringing in some new opponents to Worthen Arena. Cards shouldn’t have any problem beating the Quakers in the season opener in front of a huge crowd. This isn't exactly the best schedule to sell a lot of season tickets...but we should have a good crowd to see the new coach and players.
We can hope Depauw makes a good showing and the game is a good way to start the season, and entertaining. I don't think Depauw plays the frustrating type of game we saw in our showing against Northern Michigan last year, but we can hope we don't see anything like how we took up that challenge...
Can't find a current roster ( roster 2021-22) or a recruiting report on Depauw which had a young team last year and should have a lot of kids returning, led by a senior Economics major from Topeka Indiana out of Westview HS. Depauw should have no chance to contain Sparks, except to surround him in a tight zone and hope we don't shoot well outside... Likely we don't see the starters play that many minutes.
I would not be surprised to see Lewis plan a very difficult practice the day before to challenge his team. Surely we should have enough athletes to wear them down over any reasonable length of time. That was the norm in this kind of game for his old college coach.
The end of the bench should be able to handle the "Dannies" from Depauw, as they are known to their usual rival in red white from Wabash College... White, Hendricks, Bell, Adams and Windham would have the potential to be a powerhouse in D3.

Don't sleep on IU-K. I hear Bob's Country Bunker is putting some financial NIL muscle behind that program. That could be some big NIL money there at Bob's - they have 2 kinds of music there to support it - Country AND Western.

I hope Lewis will improve the schedule and not be afraid to play SOMEBODY after two or three years

SOMEBODY is certainly going to happen, we'll be lucky if it is somebody here at home we would really like to see. It's just too hard to get a top team.

I think Bob's has financially recovered from a huge hit they took a while back when a band drank up their liquor stock, then took off without paying.

Not what we're used to, that's for sure. I heard IU-Kokomo wanted a piece of our ass this year. They claim it's a rivalry game. IU-Kokomo... when will they learn?

Disappointing schedule for sure. Any thoughts as to why?

Disappointing schedule for sure. Any thoughts as to why? You can only assume Lewis is attempting to avoid duplicating Whitford's first season record of 5-25. Disappointing in Lewis must not have much faith in his first year roster.

Maybe it's pretty typical for 1st year coaches to hedge on the schedule a bit just to get their feet wet and have some success. I don't know. I do know it's a typical Hunsaker schedule. Have we forgotten Cardinal Strich? (or maybe we just had trouble finding teams willing to come to our place this year?)
At any rate, I expect a good record vs this schedule. We have talent, we'll see if it's properly coached vs. what we had been seeing.
