Oddsmakers had it right on the money.
Avoid any one of handful of penalties and other mistakes, we upset a good MAC team. Quite possibly that may be the story of our season...
Big job ahead for coaches to run off a few wins and set up a chance for upsets we will need down the road.

Not impressed with the passing game, either offensively or defensively. I'd say changes need to be made offensively now, not later. Just not sure whether it's Paddock or the play calling but very horizontal in nature, went deep only when necessary. Had some big plays but mostly off of short passes. People will be deceived by the yardage total and the coaching staff will be convinced they just need to tweak a few things. I think they're wrong. It's pedestrian offensive play-calling that benefits from some pretty good talent and effort by a few skill position players. Pass defense terrible. Can't pressure and can't cover. Salopek completed 60% of his passes, and of the 40% he didn't complete probably 75% of those were due to poor passes, not good defense. An accurate passer probably would have completed over 80% of his passes, or at least what Hooker did last week (72%). Steele good but needs more effective back-ups (can our RBs not catch passes?). Kicker was nice but we won't be altering field position much with our punting. Agree with every bit of that. Predictable/basic play calling, like calling off the attack after we got leads. I don’t think we ask our dbs to cover anybody, just generally be somewhat in the area. We made it way too easy for Wmu, especially in the 4th qtr. Supremely winnable game that we found a way to lose just like so many other games in the Neu era. (Sloppy, dumb penalties l, giving up big plays, offense stuck in neutral) paddock isn’t bad, just not dynamic. We need a change of pace back behind Steele. D needs all kinds of work. No pass rush whatsoever.

No pass rush whatsoever. And after a week of coaches tweaking things and players working hard, they will beat Murray State. The problem with that is that they will become convinced that they've fixed things, that they've gotten better each week. The reality will be that they might have cleaned some things up but they won't have really fixed what needs to be fixed and the mirage of improvement will simply be playing weaker teams each week.

We aren’t as bad as I thought. No wiggle room. We will be as good as we are coached between games. If we don’t quit we can win 8 games . We might only win 2

Ga Southern tied at the half@28 with Nebraska. We will lose that game I’m predicting.

Ga Southern tied at the half@28 with Nebraska. We will lose that game I’m predicting. Maybe. WMU was down 8 midway thru 4th quarter at MSU. But Ga Southern is a team we’d likely face in a bowl game. If we can’t beat them then we’d be very likely to lose any bowl game we’d make. Hoping for a good game when we play and a W!! It’s supposed to be a 50/50 game in an area we recruit. Not supposed to be a gimme, but given our start, a game we really need to win.

We looked better on offense today than we did against UT but UT dominated us as they should have so hard to actually see what improved. I still think Ga S. will drill us and they’re up on Nebraska at Nebraska by 7 late 3rd Q.

Ga Southern tied at the half@28 with Nebraska. We will lose that game I’m predicting. I started watching after you sent this! They are tough and the fun-belt is having a monster day!! Reminds me of how the MAC used to have monster days!! A must win if we want any chance of a bowl game (to likely play another sun belt team)

I’m also watching the Eastern M game and the UCon game that’s on now that will be on our schedule.

And the way EMU is playing tonight I don’t think we win that game either.

One thing I remind myself about college football is that teams can look totally different from week to week. CMU was bad today, but I bet they win the west.

It’s CMU or Toledo or wait for it maybe WMU is really good and we just a heartbreaker to the MAC West champs. See the web I’m spinning

Tough loss and closer than I thought. WMU took over when they needed to.
Steele is great. Paddack is limited(see a majority of his throws way outside the hashes) because he can’t see over the line well.
Defensive line gets no pressure/push.
We win 3 games this year
