You’re not wrong about clock mgmt. we did the same thing with Plitt, snapping the bal with 5 plus seconds on the play clock late in games that always seemed to leave the opponent with enough time left to cause problems. I don’t know why we do this, especially when protecting a lead.

I did not get to see any of it because I don’t have the U. Aside from the early INT, numbers indicate Paddock had a good game. I don’t need to say anything about Steele.
And kudos to the D. With the way football is set up to favor the offense, 20 points is solid.
I know Paddock talks about being all calm and cool being down double digits but you can’t live on that. You just can’t.

This thread is a Freezing Cold Takes legend. Let’s face it, our team is a maddening rollercoaster of bad/good play/ coaching/penalties. We are in November. 3 games left, could reasonably lose all 3, win1 or even win 2.
Oddly it is about where everybody thought we'd be when we debated it in August.
Predictably unpredictable?

Huge win last night! I guess for Toledo, a loss to Ball State is less likely to knock us out of the running with Ohio needing every win down the stretch as well.

Yeah, but you should have been stoked when we were down 13-0 immediately. Dont you know good football when you see it? I was not saying the comments were not warranted at the time of the comments, but it is fun to look back at the emotion of the moment. Some of those comments were earlier in the week that basically said we should not even play the game against Kent State…would never want to go into any kind of battle with those posters…jeez. |

Ah the ups and downs of a young team! The best feeling in sport is a hard played unexpected win. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, We will fight them in the air, we will fight them on the sea, we will fight them on the beaches, we will fight them on the hills, we will fight them in the valleys, we will fight them in the cities, we will fight them in the streets, we will fight them door to door, WE WILL NEVER SURRENDER. I figured Barfield would look for other opportunities. Seems Steele will go where the money takes him. Pemberton would seem to have the most to gain by staying. Marcus will leave cuz he got buried. Will is a millionth year senior and will move on (I say that lovingly because he’s had some good moments and got a ring). That leaves Shoka and he’s a walk on from Muncie so I can’t see him going anywhere. Overall not much of a running back room to begin with. Not sure why most of them would leave if Steele gets the bag because carries will be available next year. I know we’ve recruited a stud by ego knows yet if we’ll keep him or if he’ll be ready to play right away. Bsu is ripe for the picking of our best talent because our NIL is not competitive. (Other schools can buy our best players if they want) |

No one said that anything of the sort. But, play as bad as the offense had been playing,to the point of blowing the Homecoming game vs Emu, don’t expect everyone to be super optimistic going into a game against one of the top offenses in the league. (And posters on a fan board don’t play on the team, so there’s no going into battle with fans and players should not be paying attention to that). It was a surprising, but excellent win last night. Finally got the passing game untracked a bit. Very good to see. And Steele was a beast as usual. The defense continues to give us a chance. |

In that scenario it would leave pemberton starting and Barfield plenty of Carry’s at 2 if Barfield sees it that way
If by chance Steele stays Barfield deff gone
